Cate's Diary

I expect the answer to be "yes". Make sure to still be good to your body though; it's the only one you'll ever have and it works hard every day.

I'm counting today as day 1, with G away.
Day 1 BF Fruit, yoghurt & almond meal 256cals,
Mid-morning 1 med. hard-boiled egg 60
L- Crackers, 1/2 an avo, salad 400
Late afternoon 40g mixed unsalted nuts 226 (wow- that's a lot!)
2 diet lemonade cans ( in lieu of wine ).
D- Grilled salmon & veg 460 cals
2 mandarins 56.
Total- about 1400 cals & NO wine :D
I am going to miss G, but I am going to use his absence to lose some weight- sensibly.

Didn' sleep well last night. I'm not used to being on my own.
I am actually struggling to get my calories up today. Having yoghurt & fruit for breakfast, with a little almond meal, is a good low-cal start to the day.
I had lentil & veg soup for lunch, with gf garlic toast at the deli.
I made a venison "chop suey" with lots of veg & no noodles for dinner, followed by some fresh fruit.
No wine.
I'm quite full, but if I get hungry before bedtime I can have something. I have only had 1,000 Cals.
I have a toothache! It's the middle, front bottom tooth! It feels like my other teeth are trying to push it out :(

Driving is a great incentive I find not to have a drink as well it means that you can only have so much and no one is pestering you to have another one then. Your goal for October looks very achievable Cate keep up the great work! I am very much missing the summer sun too it gets very dark and rainy in Ireland this time of year

How interesting that you're finding it hard to eat enough today. Is that your tooth's doing or is something else different? Apart from G being away, I mean.

Drinking wine at the end of the day has become a habit for us, but being home on my own for a week changes that totally. I had a couple of drinks today with the women at golf, but I had planned on doing that. Even 2 drinks a day adds so many calories! It's raining now, but it's nice. I don't know how I would cope with bleak weather. Not very well I think.

I made a conscious decision to lose some weight while he was away LaMa. G is such a nurturer & loves cooking. If I was on my own food would not have the importance it does when he is here. I would never starve by any means. I don't think I would drink on my own either.
My tooth isn't hurting today, but I had better get it seen to. It doesn't affect me unless I bite on an apple.
I played 18 holes of golf today & enjoyed my day. I got around better than I have for a while. I didn't play good golf, but that's golf for you.
G has rung me each evening & texted me each morning. I wasn't going to bother contacting him as I don't want to be one of those wives, but he is such a sweetie!

Glad you had a lovely day Cate and keep up the good work! G sounds like a really nice guy it is nice to hear from your other half while they are away just to know they are doing well

Thanks, Morgane & LaMa. I know I am very lucky. We are happy together.
I have lost 2 kg since last Friday. I think it's from not eating any bread & not drinking wine. I have 8 kg to get down to my happy weight. I have to do this, so I won't freak out like I have in the last week or so! I'm thinking the BP meds have something to do with the weight gain. The diuretic component was doubled, but I urinate less. To me, that doesn't add up. I'll check with my GP next time I see her. Meanwhile I might ask Dr Google :)

Meanwhile I might ask Dr Google :)

Oh be careful with doctor google even a sore toe can look like something much more sinister. If you are retaining water that would also account for the extra weight your carrying. 2kg's is brilliant though well done

Thank you, Morgane. I gave up on Dr G after a while. I'll check with my doctor soon.
Meanwhile, I have a doozy of a toothache. I was tired, so decided to go to bed at 10.30. I started cleaning my teeth & whammo! I have throbbing pain & gave up on sleeping anytime soon. I'm currently sucking on a clove & swishing whisky around my mouth. I'll ring the dentist first thing in the morning. I have taken some Paracetamol as I can't take Ibuprofen. :(

Thanks, LaMa. I rang the dentist first thing, but they are not answering. I just looked at the calendar & there's a holiday in the North of the state for the Launceston show! I was messaging my sister at about 1.30 this morning & she asked me if I still had Mum's painkillers hidden away. She suggested I take one as that really helped her with a toothache. At about 2 I took one & was asleep about half an hour later. They are strong!
I woke this morning & it's only a dull ache. I'll get up early tomorrow & ring the dentist first thing. Today I won't eat anything that requires chewing & I will do the same tonight if necessary.
On a good note, I have lost 2 kgs this week. I think it's the not eat eating bread or any other starchy carbs. Yoghurt & fruit for breakfast helps too as it's a very low-calorie, but filling way to start the day.

Sorry to hear you were in such pain Cate tooth aches are awful. Hopefully you get it seen to soon and they can do something to fix it quickly

I chomped on painkillers & swished whisky at about 8 pm last night, massaged my feet & jaw with magnesium oil, went to bed about 10.30 & slept right through to 7 am. My tooth is not hurting this morning! That is weird. Now I'm debating whether I ring him today or not. It was such a good night's sleep!
Woke up hungry & cooked myself 2 eggs, 1/2 a zucchini & 2 mushrooms & some garlic on oat toast. 427 cals.
