Cowboy's Diary

It's been beautiful here the few days, but I think it's supposed to cool down this weekend. As long as it's not snowing I'm good. I don't know why I live in Michigan... lol!

Funny I ask myself the same question-- Why do I live here? It looks like we may get some wet snow tomorrow. Not looking forward to that-- I don't even have my Christmas lights up-lol!!

Went for a nice 5K run yesterday. Felt good- I still LOVE to run! My running partner and I are thinking about doing a 10K in February. They call it the Hypothermic 1/2. It is actually a 1/2 Marathon, 10K and 5K run. It is run in traditionally the coldest month of the year for us here. It can be -40 and it runs regardless of the weather or temperature. It runs on two weekends so we will run on one weekend and volunteer the other one. I would still like to run a marathon. My running partner hurt herself a couple of years back so she doesn't want to do the long distances now. I still want to do another 1/2 and try a full marathon. We will see how things go.

Boot camp has been painful. I will be going tonight again. Same workout as Monday. My ribs and abs still hurt from it-lol.

Eating has been good. Weight is good. Nothing else to report.

Keep fighting the fight!

I have this mental image of cowboy running in cowboy boots wearing snowshoes! LOL
Any snow up in the great white north yet cowboy

Nope don't run in cowboy boots, snowshoes or even in a leather speedo-lol. Yeah we got about 5 inches over the weekend. Damn it anyway. It will probably melt but gives us a little taste of what is coming. We just had our Thanksgiving up here so it was a long weekend for us so traffic wasn't too bad although there were quite a few accidents. I don't know why we have accidents we drive in snow 7 months of the year!

It was a very interesting weekend. It was Thanksgiving up here and of course I ate more than I should have. Not a huge amount just more that I normally do. Pie is my undoing-lol. When there is fresh homemade Pumpkin and Apple pie, well you know. I had a piece of each. I know it wasn't THAT much but I try to stay away from baked goods as they were my nemesis when I was overweight. That being said- I am running tonight and boot camp tomorrow so I am not that worried about a couple of pieces of pie.

Funny how it makes you feel though when you haven't had it for a long time. Felt bloated and heavy. I don't like that feeling so I guess Christmas will be a time for me to not do that again-haha.

Weather here has been terrible. Cold and snowy- ALREADY!! Oh well there is nothing I can do about the weather - except learn to live with it. I will be wearing pants and base layer to run in tonight.

That is it for today. Keep fighting the fight!

Don't be ridiculous. I'm sure he rides a moose named 'Hockey' instead and drinks maple syrup straight out of trees. Something, something Canadian stereotypes. :p

I feel you on the apple pie, Cowboy. It's always pecan or cherry at just about every gathering I attend but I crave apple more than anything.

We had Chinese buffet last Friday with coworkers and I used to get 3-4 plates each time I'd go. I got 2 reasonable sized plates this time and I felt SO bloated and sore. I can really tell that my capacity to gorge on foods has diminished.

No snow for us, high of 77F today and 60s for the rest of the week. Weather still feels like late August. It's been high 40s low 50s in the mornings though and I've really been enjoying walking in it. I might have to invest in some good gloves if I'm going to be walking outside a lot now.

I am pretty sure that now I am at a point that I could exercise off a cheat meal or a dessert but I am still avoiding restaurants and such until I get some more off. I have this silly fear that I would get derailed and gain back in a week what it has taken me 6 weeks to loose.

I can´t hear the word Canada without thinking about "Due South". But... I just googled the guy who played Fraser and he did not age well. O well, another bubble burst.

Canada is on my "must visit" list, but I will try to avoid Winter. I'm a bit of a sook when it comes to real cold. I have a niece who owns a restaurant, with her husband, in BC & I must visit her there one day! Our younger son was considering staying in Canada, but luckily for us, settled back here in Tassie.
My body does not process desserts well, especially ones with cream. One advantage of going wheat-free(almost totally gluten-free) is that it imposes a limit on fattening temptations. Rather than feel this is a bad thing I now look on it as a plus. Whenever I do have something I almost always feel gluggy & uncomfortable. I love almost all fruit & that satisfies my sweets cravings.
Maintenance is tricky, but I think it's good to still look on some foods as being a little bit dangerous. We do not want to go back there!

Don't forget that we live in Igloos and say "eh" all the time-lol.

I love Pecan pie too. In fact if it has pie in the name I will probably eat it-lol. Chinese food makes me feel sick afterwards. I always eat way too much of it so I removed that from my diet. It just has way too many calories in it.

Weather advisory again up here. They are saying freezing rain and snow today and tomorrow. I HATE freezing rain - makes driving nasty.

Yeah Paul Gross - I guess we all age differently-lol. He has directed a war movie just recently that they say is really good. I haven't seen it though.

I would suggest visiting in the Summer time and looking at Jasper or anywhere in the Rockies. I love the mountains and really feel at peace when I am there. BC is awesome as well. Lots of the same mountains there, beautiful lakes and scenery. Lot of moose, elk, bears, mountain goats, etc. can be seen if you want to drive around a bit.

We are almost gluten free too. Not totally as neither of us are celiac but we know all about the diet as my mother in law was celiac so allergic to gluten big time. It made her sick to her stomach. So having her out for supper we eventually just cooked everything gluten free. It was just easier that way as she knew she could eat everything on the table. Being on a low carb diet is almost the same as being gluten free as a lot of carb have gluten too.

Yeah I have a danger list of foods I don't want to get started on again as I feel with somethings it is hard to stop. I test myself once in a while just to see if I can stop at one or one piece. I find the longer that I don't eat from my danger list the less I even want the things listed there.

Went for a 5.5 K run yesterday. Felt good as it has been a few days since I ran. Actually the run went by really fast and we seemed to be really moving along. I think the cooler weather is nicer for running so we run faster-lol.

Boot camp tonight. We didn't have it on Monday as it was a holiday so not sure what she has planned for us. Normally we do the same things on Monday and Thursday and then she switches it up the following week. So normally I know what tonight's horror is going to be-lol. I guess I shouldn't say that as I feel great after doing all the exercises- it is just that some of them hurt this old body-haha.

That is it for today. Keep fighting the fight!
