Anyone thinking of taking this up i urge that you do it, i started with my first training session on saturday and although i am unable tomove hardly i loved it. My friend has been fighting MMA for about 2 years and wanted to start to add muay thai to his jiu jitsu style and asked if id come along and now am going to strt twice a week and then practise grappling on a wednesday.
by the way, if you dont like pain dont do it!!! i practised kicks in my first session and even wit a 6 inch thick pad covering my leg...one kick still gave me a dead leg. If you can find a class that focuses on muay thai within mma then i say go for it. one 3 hour session taught me kicking techniques on the muay thai side of it, i learnt a few grappling moves, had a half hour session of kung fu leg strengthening, sparring....good job i hav to wait a week till next lesson becos i can hardly walk
