Muay Thai

Anyone thinking of taking this up i urge that you do it, i started with my first training session on saturday and although i am unable tomove hardly i loved it. My friend has been fighting MMA for about 2 years and wanted to start to add muay thai to his jiu jitsu style and asked if id come along and now am going to strt twice a week and then practise grappling on a wednesday.

by the way, if you dont like pain dont do it!!! i practised kicks in my first session and even wit a 6 inch thick pad covering my leg...one kick still gave me a dead leg. If you can find a class that focuses on muay thai within mma then i say go for it. one 3 hour session taught me kicking techniques on the muay thai side of it, i learnt a few grappling moves, had a half hour session of kung fu leg strengthening, sparring....good job i hav to wait a week till next lesson becos i can hardly walk

Um...okay.

I have been at it for a month now and I love it. Shins are still getting used to the thai pads...and well other peoples shins. Other than that its an awesome time!

Plus side, anyone watch UFC with the fighter Mike Nichols?? I train with him such a cool guy.

I have been training in Muay thai for around 3 years now, and must say it's an awesome sport for cardio.

It's what got me into kickboxing in the first place, and I'm now the WUMA European Open 80 Kilo+ Champion

Just remember, it's all in the hips ;)

I took this art for a few years and it was not the funnest martial art, but I think I got the most from it. I would urge everyone to give it a try if you can find a place near you.

i take muay thai. ive been in it for about 7 years i trained in ohio at tamamartialarts, and in houston texas with kru pong. the work out its VERY HARD, if you compete i really feel sorry for you. lol! hahaha i compete i miss the training. ive been working alot....good luck on the muay thai classes if you ever need any info about the art of muay thai. your more than welcome to message me!

Ive been thinking of taking this. seems to be great fighting skill, and looks like it will kick my ass into better shape. Thats what I need.

Theres a MMA place in Maine that started a Muay Thai program two(?) years ago. Being a huge UFC fan I went to check it out and pretty quickly saw that it was the equivalent of a karate belt factory. So word of warning- make sure its legit!

I did a private class (well noone showed up) in MT yesterday. It was really interesting, the way the punches and kicks are. The toughest part is the footwork, well so far.

i have been doing muay thai in scotland for 3 years now and i still love it as much as i did when i started.

im going for my blue1 a week on saturday (27th)

i look forward to every training session.

response

yea i started up muay thai and it is tough. It is amazing for cardio but i agree, it is very painful. My legs are always throbbing but i know my legs are getting stronger the more i practice. It hurts, but i really feel alot better over all. I can't wait to keep it up.
