your genes

Is your ab size related to your genetic background, or is it like any other muscle that you have to build up?
thanks.

More so then any other muscle group in your body, the abs are very genetic.

For instance i have great genes for abs. i had a 6 back when i was 12 without ever doing any ab workouts. and once i started doing some ab work it quickly developed without much work. a friend of mine has done so many crunches in his life its unreall and he still can not get a 6pack (yes he has a low BF%) he is riped in every way except his abs.

Well that would be because endless crunches don't do crap for abs. They're just like any other muscle, but even if your bf is low if you dont build them up you wont see them.

I didnt mean thats all he does, lol, He does every single ab workout their is. Iv seen him do crunches holding a 45 pound plate behind his head in 3 sets of 12. Im serious he is 6'6 300 all muscle but he can not get abs. which would say his genetics simply will now allow him abs for the most part.
