You can't always get what you want (Athala's diary).

Indeed. I used to always add the word "Kg", but I thought that theme was settled.
Fear not! I edited the other posts and fixed it.

I have tried eating 5 times a day, but it's harder for me to stick to it. and, for me at least, is annoying having to put together 5 meals instead of 3.
Well, I have several reasons, but let's just say I prefer to eat 3 times a day.

well you have to put together 3 meals but your mid morning and mid afternoon snacks can be fruit or something.. lol doesn't have to be cooked.

Sunday, August 18, 2013.

I had a go to the first sensible strength routine made by myself. Did only 1 set, 8 exercises. I'm not quite sure if I got the form of all of them right, so on the next two days, I'm gonna study how to do the proper form.

I'm also gonna change the way I workout, it used to be;
Day 1: Strenght, followed by cardio.
Day 2: Cardio only.
(Repeat until I take a rest day)
I'm changing it to:
Day 1: Strength.
Day 2: Cardio.
Day 3: Cardio.
(Repeat until rest day)

Finally a good weight;
Yesterday's night weight: 102.6 Kg.
Today's morning weight: 102.1 Kg.

Average weight for the week: 102.5. This is also my "starting" weight, since I didn't had an accurate scale before.

Food of today:
Breakfast:
130g of chicken. (134.4)
150g of apple. (97.9)
80g of banana. (85.8)
100g of celery. (23)
1 tsp of olive oil. (41.4)

Lunch:
60g of pasta. (212.1) (60g when uncooked)
120g of red meat. (236.4)
2 tsp of olive oil. (82.8)

Dinner:
1 slice of wheat* bread. (84.55)
100g of celery. (23)
75g of avocado. (145.6)
70g of pickled onions. (34.7)
2 tsp of marigold oil. (82.8)

Summary of today:
Total Calories: 1284.45
112.63g of Carbohydrates (35.07%), 69.85g of Protein (21.75%), 55.13g of Fat (38.63%) and 19.48g of Fiber (4.55%).

I think today has been my best day so far. I'm feeling great. But I know it won't last...
On another news, I'll have to drop the yogurt idea, since I can't seem to find a "healthy" one.

greek yogurt is good for you.
I wanted greek yogurt, but the only one I have been able to find contains a lot of fat, around 9.5 per serving. I wanted no-fat, but no luck so far.

Fat is not bad for you, its good to have fat, especially during weight loss (helps avoid gall stones). Just make sure its good fats (dairy, nuts, avos etc)

Well, the fat I'm trying to reduce is saturated fat, that yogurt contains 5.9g per serving. I'm not trying to completely avoid it, but since I consume plenty of fats (meats, olive oil, and recently, avocado), I'm under the impression that I should try to reduce it a bit.

If you want a low fat Greek yoghurt - see if you can get Fage Total 0%. Friends of mine in a number of countries can get it ok... It has amazing statistics for protein, calcium and fat... (better than other low fat Greek yoghurt that I have tried but it tends to be more expensive)...

I don't know where you are Athala (which country) - but the website has a place to click near the bottom of the page to change country...

you should try eating five smaller meals throughout the day. instead of four.

I have tried eating 5 times a day, but it's harder for me to stick to it. and, for me at least, is annoying having to put together 5 meals instead of 3.
Well, I have several reasons, but let's just say I prefer to eat 3 times a day.

There is no advantage to eating more small meals... There is a diet myth whereby some people believe that there is an advantage - but that was proved scientifically to be wrong years ago.

Calories in vs calories out is all that counts...

If it is easier for you to stick to your calorie limit by having lots of regular tiny meals - have as many as you want... If each meal introduces an opportunity to eat above the level that you had planned and can make you over-eat or is otherwise onerous for you - you can happily have as few meals as you want. Some people eat healthily on one meal a day.

We are all different and can each work out what is right for us.

Naturally it is important to have sufficient good nutrition in those meals - so you have to hit daily targets for things like protein, fibre, calcium etc.

That's a really good plan Athala, just remember to change it up so it's not boring. As for the yogurt try some natural yogurt with a teaspoon of honey, I like to eat that when I'm craving chocolate or sweets. :)

It has very good stats, but sadly no available for my country. :[

I rather not say where I'm from, but I was actually aiming to get something like that. I have the stats from one of the Greek yogurts available here, just for the sake of comparison;

Per 100g:
Kcal - 147.
Protein - 3.2.
Carbohydrates - 14.5 - From which 14.1 are sugars.
Fats - 8.3 - From which 5.1 are saturated.

It's just ridiculous. There are another "healthier" varieties, but not non-fat whatsoever. One has to be incredibly lucky to even get a plain yogurt here.

Monday, August 19, 2013.

Today was a very stressful day (I won't be going into details), I have been on a really bad mood all day.

Didn't had any particular routine prepared for today, I just picked something on the go. I tried a Tae Bo routine, but the moves were never explained, so I didn't had an idea if I got them right.

I switched around another 2 cardio routines, I did around 15 or 20 minutes on total, before I quitted. One of the workouts contained jumping exercises, which I could do without problems. Still, I'm gonna continue to being very careful when it comes to jumping.

Weight of yesterday's night: 102.8
Weight of today's morning: 102.3

Food of today:

Breakfast:
20g of oats. (82.1)
2 eggs. (140)
1 tsp of olive oil. (41.4)
1 slice of wheat bread. (84.55)
100g of banana. (106.1)

Lunch:
50g of pasta. (176.35) (50g when uncooked)
135g of chicken. (141.9)
2 tsp of olive oil. (82.8)

I was trying to go low-carb, but as I was somewhat stressed and on a bad mood, I just decided to eat as much as I could of something I could enjoy, without going over calories;

Dinner:
80g of pasta. (282.16) (80g when uncooked)
150g of red meat. (295.5)
2 tsp of olive oil. (82.8)
2 tsp of light mayonnaise. (56)

Summary of today:
Total calories: 1571.66.
139.92g of Carbohydrates (35.61%), 92.85g of Protein (24.90%), 64.79g of Fat (37.10%) and 12.49g of Fiber (2.38%).

What makes you get in a good mood? For me exercise helps as I feel I have done something. Do you play any video games? :)
And I wanted to say that I found this really amazing workout routine on youtube called 37 minute home workout and FitnessBender make lots of videos like that, It's worth checking out! What I try to do is to have higher calories at lunch and something light for dinner so when I sleep it doesn't go into storage (hopefully :))
Have a nice day!

I used to play video games, but I was way too "passionate" about it, so there was no moderation whatsoever. I had to left all that behind.

I like FitnessBlender, it's one of the best exercise channels on Youtube. Actually, the very first routine I used when I started exercising on July 17 was one of theirs, it was; "Low Impact Cardio Workout for Beginners - Beginner Cardio & Toning".

My favourite channel list goes like this, you may want to check those;
1) Lionsgate BeFit.
2) FitnessBlender. :)
3) XHIT Daily.
4) PerfectFitnessTV.
5) HASfit.

Now, I pretty much subscribe to everything that posts videos on a regular basis, but I think those are the best I have found so far.
