Yo yo-er ready to commit

Thanks Cate :)

Today is day #6 and I've amazed myself by how good I am doing. I pray every night that God removes desire to drink pop and helps me with this lifestyle change and I believe it explains why I'm doing so well. I am really looking forward to weigh in on monday!

God helps me so much too Korrie. He is showing me lots of things I didn't even realise I hold onto. Things I need to let go of. I have a feeling the more I let go the more the weight will drop. x:)

So neat to hear!! A fellow christian?

Well I know I should be more excited about it but I'm not, lol. I lost 3lbs this week and yes I know that's great, but I cut my calories in half this week, I was hoping for a bigger loss. But suck it up, I know. If I lose another 3 lbs next week I will be happy.

Today's going to be a trying day I think. Slept horrible, just awful and on top of that I have to get up early to go run mini cheer camp and maybe get in a nap before I have to take my youngest to the dentist to get two cavities filled, which is never a pleasant experience.

Fellow Christian here as well although I'm a non active one in that we no longer attend church.
(I plan to change this when we have children, though!)

Are you a pop drinker?
Sometimes, when I want to adjust a habit I piggyback off people who don't have said habit.
Like begets like you so if you surround yourself with someone doing something you want to do then you kind of mimic them.
At the very least, you understand the "other side" so it makes temptation easier to avoid!
I never "got" pop.
It's gross and goes flat within 30 minutes.
It makes your stomach hurt, too.
It's also SUCH a waste of money.
I feel a twang of pity for people who make an extra stop somewhere because pop is on sale.
Really?
I don't see you scouring when avocados are a good deal....
Also, I rarely consume calories through liquids... It's almost a rule with me.
(Excluding wine, lol.)
Just seems like a waste of stomach space!
Not too mention too much pop can rot your teeth.
I also associate pop with poor parenting.
Harsh, I know.
But the "good" parents never allowed their children pop so I like to mention that as often as possible, usually when someone is talking about how disgusting water is.
I LOVE water.
Maybe this will help... Maybe this will piss you off.
But that's how I see pop and I never drink it.
Maybe if you get develop a "dirty" attitude towards it you'll start to associate it with undesirable.
I'm trying this approach with chips I just haven't found - apart from gaining weight - a negative association with it.
It's a party snack!

I think chips are gross and greasy, but soda makes me happy (even though I didn´t have/want any as a kid). To each their own vices, I guess.

I don't see any food or drink as evil really. I think it's great Korrie that you have lost 3lbs! Good luck with the dentist.

Thanks Ladies and AllCdnboy for your replies :) I HAD BEEN a heavy pop drinker. However with the new lifestyle change, I have given it up completely, much to my own surprise. La Dauphine, no offence taken. My children don't drink pop regularly and my youngest actually went completely off of pop when she was diagnosed with prediabetes. But being a parent and observing other parents I would be hesitant to say "You are a bad parent because you give your child pop" Being a parent covers such a broad spectrum, that maybe I would say "thats a poor parenting choice" instead....although personally, I try to stay out of judging anyones parenting skills as long as a child isn't being harmed and I'm sure you feel the same way. Its just my 2 cents though.

I'm definitely getting the hang of this new diet. I have cut out the Lean Cuisines because as slow as I apparently am, it took me the whole week to realize that they were giving me bathroom issues! ugh! Today started off crazy with cheer camp not exactly going as planned. As much as I love coaching, I"m glad its my last year! lol

Havnt really been on that much lately, forgive me for not getting in anyone's diary. Cheer camp has been this week and I've been crazy busy, but being busy is good for the diet still doing well and have had no problems getting off pop. Never in any other time of my life have I been able to get off pop like this!

Sounds like you're burning some extra calories on top of eating well :) Diet products in general tend to not sit well with me as they often put in weird things to make up for what they take out (sugar for fat is the least of that) but maybe the grapes are just sour because it would be so convenient to have ready-made stuff my body can process well.

Hi Florence, thanks for checking in on me. I've all the sudden got crazy busy. this 2 weeks that I"m on there is not one day that I don't have packed full yet. That is very unusual for me. Sports have started up, the kids have dentist, doctor, hair apts' plus back to sschool shopping and a fest in our town that I"m a member of that board so I"m going to live there all next weekend. I almost can't wait for the kids to go back to school so that things slow down!!

I find it impressive if someone manages to diet and keep up with all their daily stresses.
I know that if things don´t go according to plan, I tend to find 500 reasons why I should compensate with something delicious as soon as I get the chance to do so.
I hope it will be a smooth journey for you from now on.

Stay strong Korrie :)
