Yarm's No More Excuses!

That sucks about being sick, but hopefully the weight loss will stick and you'll have some good from it. (Hmm... perhaps I should eat some of that Indian food) You are on your way to the first prize by Thanksgiving, but if you want that shiny new bike for Christmas you are going to have to kick it up. :D

YIKES my friend, sounds like your family got the crud and bad, I'm so sorry!! I know how it is when everyone is feeling awful around you and then you feel bad as well, it's hard to function properly. Hopefully you'll be able to get in some good food and exercise in the coming week, we all can use time off every now and then, so just consider this your little minnie break. I wish you a speedy recovery!!! Take Care of yourself and get plenty of rest.

I'll peek in on you in a few days to see how your holding up.
**Kim reaches a hug out to her friend***

Need to find time for me, but almost impossible! I haven't been "bad", but havent been focused either. Between lifes regular distractions, running the kids all over, taking care of the house there is little time - add to that the holiday, dealing with the emotional baggage with the anniversary of Dad's death, and still trying to settle the estate and the house I have no idea how to find the time to take care of me. I am always so tired! I get no formal exercise and have fallen into bad snacking habits. I have to come up with a plan with real attainable goals, especially this time of year.

/sigh

Yarmi, that's one thing I love about you. Even when everything is against you, you are still fighting it. :smash: Here, have a virtual margarita. :cheers2:

My concern is, Trops, that I am all bark and no bite. I am searching and looking for the key/lightbulb to go off in my head that will result in a permanent change. Over the past year I have continued to yo-yo, tho in a less dramatic fashion. I lose focus, with some valid excuses and some not. Of course this time of year is always a challenge for those working on weight loss and even maintaining weight.

I know what I want, and I know what has to be done in order to acheive it. I need to make the commitment to myself to resist the temptation to sleep in and not exercise, and resist the urge to snack/eat when I'm not hungry. I will start by reminding myself a few times a day - every time I go into the bathroom and look in the mirror- what my goals are, and what I want to look and feel like.

Woke up and did some strength exercises.
Milk and banana @7 30 am
Whole Wheat english Muffin with PB @9:30
Special K snack bar @11
Mini Rice cakes @12:30
Lunch was crab soup, and BLT on whole wheat, easy on the mayo, & 1 cookie
Dinner was 2 slices of turkey, a baked potato with spray butter and spinach
Hopped on the NT for 40 minutes @8pm

Saturday: had to work, but wasnt so bad. Stopped at Wendy's to bring home lunch as the family sat and enjoyed Fred Clause(a bit of a dissapointment, but glad to spend time with the family). Started snowing in the late afternoon - a little more than a dusting. I love the beauty of snow. Then we had to head out for my aunt's acapella show. Quite a few groups performed, including my aunt's quartet and my brother's barbershop quartet, who are national finalists and came in 15th in the world competition. The finale included all the family on stage singing a Christmas song that my uncle wrote, followed by another song he wrote in tribute to my grandmom. (The show was dedicated to my grandparents). It was a nice time.

Today after church, I am headed to a friends house to make some cookies for the holidays. I WILL keep my temptation in check- NO EXCUSES! Then tomorrow, I am off and if my sister can come over, we hope to see that new Australia movie (Hugh Jackson looks hunky!) and knock out some shopping.

I didn't get any exercise in yesterday, but had a good day eating:
Breakfast: 3 microwave pancakes, plain & coffee
Snacks: mini rice cakes, 1 cookie
Lunch: taco salad from Wendy's
Snack: goldfish crackers
Dinner: home made spaghetti

Sunday 12/7/08
Woek up early enough to knock out some floor exercises before heading to church. Then stopped at the store for some cookie making supplies. Balanced the check book and put a roast in the slow cooker. After lunch drove to a friends house to knock out a couple batches of cookies - i did well, allowing myself one choc chip, and one peanut butter blossom. Came home, cleaned the floors, finished up dinner, knocked out some laundry and watched a little football.

8:15am- 3 microwave pancakes
11:15am- banana
12:30 - left over spaghetti
3:00 - 2 cookies
6:30 - roast beef, baked potato (spray butter only) and broccoli
9:00 craved another cookie, but RESISTED!

Good resisting. I got home from work last night to a tray of fresh baked cookies. Should have passed them up, but I didn't. Of course that led to some late night snacking and I'm paying for it today.

Monday 12/8/08
Got up early and exercised- woohoo! Had a big day of shopping planned. After a quick bite, headed to Staples, then Target. Then headed to Old Navy and picked up my sister. We went into Kohl's before grabbing some lunch. Caught a matinee of "Australia" (yes, Hugh Jackman is as hot as ever in that!) and made our last stop at Five Below. Once I got home, I had to run out again to get hubby some meds - he has some allergic reaction to something.

6:30am- did 30 min on NT
7:45am -glass of milk and small glass of crangrape juice
8:30am- coffee and a nutrigrain bar at the quicki mart(yay me resist the donuts, bagels and muffins)
1pm- chinese lunch: hot n soup soup, chicken & string beans
7pm- handful of jujy fruits
930pm- air popped popcorn

I also have yo yo issues, as I'm sure many of us have. I wish I knew how to help but if I had that magic pill, well then I'd be a trillionaire LOL. I guess it helps to come on here and read a few diaries just to get that motivation that others have at that moment in time. I gained 5 lbs when I stopped coming here recently. Now, get some exercise and PUT DOWN THE SNACK. Hehe. Tough love.

Tuesday 12/9/08
Woke up early and did 30 min on the NT. Nuked some pancakes, but left them in the microwave. DOH! So I stopped at Dunkin donuts and ordered the new low fat flatbread- egg n cheese only, and a coffee. Was a goo dday at work. Ran some errands at lunch. After dinner I dusted off the guitar and practiced some Christmas songs. My Dad would always play Christmas songs with us kids when I was young, and I want to pick up the torch and have them accompany me at the Christmas party this year. Finally, I made a gingerbread trifle to bring to work tomorrow. Not TOO bad in calories: gingerbread, sugar free/fat free pudding, pumpkin, sugar, lite cool whip. Before going to bed, I did some floor exercises too.

6:15am- small glass milk
9:00am- flatbread with egg and cheese, coffee
12:45pm- smartones frozne meal, 1 cookie
3:00pm small slice of apple pie with 1 scoop low fat ice cream
8:00pm- 1 baked chicken leg, rice, peas n carrots
9:30pm- one bite of gingerbread w/ cool whip(had to sample)

This weekend is supposed to be pretty good weather. Sunny with temps in the mid 40's. I can't believe that you are so close to NYC and have yet to go there. We used to skip school to go to the city all the time. Such fun. Of course it's different as an adult. What does your itinerary look like?

I'm in Maryland, but have driven "through" NY on my many trips to Mass.(I have extended family up there and vacation there in the summer). The trip is a bus trip sponsored by a school. All I know is that we are arriving @10:30am as close to Times Square as we can and then have freedom to do whatever. Many in my family group choose to see Mama Mia, but I couldnt justify $90 myself, so me and my friend will just be "wondering the streets" LOL. We have to be back on the bus by 7pm to head back home.

Mama Mia is a good play, but worth the money + the time, perhaps some other time. The restaurant next door, the Starlight Diner is a bit touristy, but pretty fun. The wait staff are all stage actors/actresses and they take turns singing Broadway favorites. Fun place.

For Wednesday 12/10/08:
Got up and exercised- then weighed myself . . down at 175.40lbs.
This makes me happy. Made a healthy breakfast and off to work.
Regular day at work, at allowed myself a small serving of the dessert
I brought in for everyone. After work, stopped at store to get something
to make for dinner- we hadn't had taco's in some time and they were
delicious! Then back out to the store to do the weekly shopping. After
the groceries were put away, I headed downstairs, threw in a load of
laundry and watched Ghost Hunters.

6:15 exercised
7:30 fried egg(no butter/oil) 1/2 slice cheese on ww english muffin, milk & cran juice.
11:00 2 orange wedges (wasnt a very tasty orange)
12:30 Smart Ones entree, serving of trifle, 1 chocolate and some nuts
3:00 large handful of cashews
6:30 taco salad w/ 97% lean beef, 1 shell, veggies and LF cheese
9:00 1 gingersnap
