Yarm's No More Excuses!

Oh I hope you are going to feel better. When I am sick I feel like eating anything just to make me feel better.
Talk to you soon.
Hajni

Oh no!
Not when you were just getting back on track!
I hate it when that happens.
I know that you will stay super motivated though.
And don't worry if you don't get any exercise in until you feel better.
Keep your chin up~

Unbelieveable tragedy . .Mom has suddenly passed away, a week ago monday.

Every freakin time I try ot get my life in order . . . .

I hope to get focused as soon as I can emotionally deal with what has happened.

This is just too overwhelming. . .

Yarmiah,

:grouphug: You and your family are in my prayers. If you need anyone to talk to I'm here. I lost my dad 3 yrs ago and my grandma (who I had more of a mother/daughter relationship with than my own mother) a year ago. I can relate.

So, yeah . .trying to adjust to life without Mom & Dad. ALOT of added stress with trying to settle the estate(s)- so much to do, but lucky to have siblings to share the work load with. In addition to this new stress, there is my own list of things to do . . from the odd jobs around the house, to making final preparations related to the 20th anniversary celebration, to making appointments for dr's, haircuts, taxes etc. I also have to reschedule Emma's first Holy Reconciliation that she missed due to the funeral.

Meanwhile, my own personal weighloss journey has been put on the back burner. I have not the time or energy, possibly not even the ability to focus on it . . but I have to do something. I feel terribly emotionally, spiritually and physically and the physically part I can actually DO SOMETHING about. I dont want to set my self up for defeat but over committing myself. It's probably best to start off small. Make small weekly changes and build on them. I'm not even gonna check the scale yet- I'm sure it will only make me feel even worse.

This week: drinking my 32 oz. water bottle and eating a min of ONE fruit serving a day

That's the best thing to do, is to take it one day at a time. Do a little here and there and before you know it you will be back on track.

You have a lot of stress right now, so make sure to make time for yourself. Not to sound like a broken record, but exercise does increase endorphins which do make you feel better.

I'm still keeping you and your family in my prayers. And it's good to hear from you.

So I took 10minutes before I went to bed to do some soul searching. I jotted down in my journal by my bed these sentiments: Yes, I've been dealt a lousy hand the past few months. And Yes, this is going to effect me emotionally, spiritually and physically. But I need to take control and live my life. I only have one life and I need to enjoy it and LIVE it . . not just wander thru on "automatic pilot". I need to do this for me, and remember that I am setting an example for my 2 children.

Sweatpea is absolutely correct- exercise will indeed improve my mood by relieving some stress. I am more tired than usual due to my current situation. I will start my exercise routine by walking again. It's getting warmer and the dog would love it.

I need to hydrate myself by making sure I drink enough water.

I also need to watch what I'm putting in my mouth, not only the types of foods, but more importatnly the quantities. My recent attitude when it comes to eating has been "I don't care". I havent binged, but I have snacked when I wasnt hungry and also not watched my portions in any eating done lately.

My journey will be harder now, given what has happened with my parents passing . . but a journey I must take to improve the quality of my life, and hence the lives of those who love me.

I started tracking my food in my online journal again today, and am sipping my water bottle as I type this.

Hi Yarm,

Looks like you are getting back on track. You are doing great!

Sunday March 16th

No church today, as the kids were marching in the St. Patrick's Day parade. Got up and had a healthy breakfast, but no real time for lunch due to the parade. Met my siblings at the end of the parade and we all (21 of us!) went to Red Robin for dinner. I did allow myself a burger as I had the calories to spare, tho I probably should have had some salad because I am lacking veggies today. Came home and crashed around 9 30pm. Even tho I went to bed fairly early, I didn't get much sleep. For the past few months and dealing with the crisis of my parents, I tend to toss and turn alot. And of course, there is the kids and dog and husband who also pitch in to keep me from catching any type of naps. I'm considering taking a tylenol PM to help me out.

Well, it's St. Patrick's Day. This holiday was always made fun and important thanks to Mom & Dad. It's weird not having them here for me to call and wish them a Happy St. Patty's Day.

I've been pretty lazy so far today, watching TV mostly but did start some laundry, make a cake for the kids, and will be doing the bills and washing the floors in a bit.

4:30pm- took a walk with the dog and picked up the kids from school. I did end up sweeping, vaccuuming and mopping the floors. The corned beef will be done soon, and then head over to my sister's who is to help me with my invitations. Oh . . hopped on the scale before I took my shower this afternoon . . . 176!I got some work to do!

Hi yarm,

A weight gain is expected when you go through crisis such as you have. But you are getting back on track and that's what matters.

Kudos to you for making the kiddos a cake and corned beef for st. patrick's day! We didn't do anything special, but with me working it's too hard to plan the fun things like that. It sounds like your mom and dad were fun people.

A pretty good day today. Got up and took the oldest to school and then ate a healthy breakfast. Relaxed on the sofa for a bit, then headed out to meet the caterer for our anniversary thing. Hubby and I then headed to Best Buy to redeem some coupons and went to Chik-Fil-A for lunch, and I opted for a salad. I treated myself to a small cone too. Oh I almost made pancakes tonight for dinner! I just then decided to use the ground beef in the fridge and make meatloaf. But tomorrow, we're having breakfast for dinner! We hardly ever have a home-cooked breakfast any more. When is your anniversary shin-dig?

Hey Yarm~
Sorry I haven't been around much. It has been pretty hectic at my house lately.
So sorry to hear about your Mom. I can't even begin to fathom how you are coping with everything.
It is good to see that you are trying to get back into the healthier eating and exercising. It will make you "feel" better. I know that almost every time that I have ever felt like not exercising and I made myself do it, I always feel better afterwards. Must be all those endorphins! LOL
I hope that you have a good day and are able to get a nap in. Even if it is just a small one.

Wed 3/19/08

Thanx for stopping by, guys. It certainly helps things to feel "like they used to", and therefore helping to get back into my routine.

My anniversary celebration is April 19th. My sister is helping me with the invitation, and most were mailed today. We selected prime rib and stuffed chicken breast for entree's, and red potatoes and vegetable medley for the sides.

At work, doing well. Having a yogurt for a snack- it amazes me that the little packet of oatmeal can hold me for 3 hours. Probably going to meet my older brother at lunchtime to sign some more papers related to Mom & Dad's estates. I packed a fresh taco salad (no chips) for lunch in case we don't have time to eat.

It sounds like your anniversary celebration will be a good time. And one you definitely need.

Thursday 3/20/08

Man, I am so tired. I never seem to get any sleep- I lay down in bed and my brain starts going 100 miles an hour. I try to distract myself from thinking about my parents, but find that very difficult and ineveitably, I end up thinking about them anyway. Before I consider taking a tylenol PM or even a dr. visit, I know I should get some exercise in. It will help me sleep I'm sure AND help relieve some stress. It's just that I'm so tired and it's so hard to get out of bed- but I just have to do it!

Hey Yarm~
You poor thing. I can't imagine being so tired and NOT being able to sleep.
I hope that you can get that worked out soon.
Way to go on thinking ahead and packing a lunch when you went to see your brother. That's the kind of stuff that will make this a successful venture for you.
Sooo your anniversary party sounds delightful. In fact it sounds delicious!!!
Wish I lived close enough to crash it!!!
Well I gotta head have a great day!!!
