Wrestling

This is the official Wrestling thread. I will update this hopefully every Wednesday and Saturday with news of my matches and my team's matches. If anyone has any questions or anything relating to Wrestling post it up!

:)

Hey watsup,

I wrestle for my highschool team and were 3-0 so far after a quad, and I didnt get to wrestle, lol. They had no one in my weightclass...

Its too bad, but wtv. Weve got a really strong team this year. We finished second in the regionals last year and should make a strong push to win it this year.

Good luck with your matches

Awesome man, what weight class are you? I'm 160, but since our captains are 160 and 171, I'll never make varsity at those weights, so I'm dropping to 152.

Our meet tomorrow is against 3 schools, 2 of which are somewhere in the top 20 statewide.

Thanks alot man, I'm gonna need it.

yup im ganna wrestle next year on my team thats why im trainin hard so i figured id post in here at least once. im planning on going int somewhere around 150 or 145 lbs. in the summer il be learning moves at wrestling practice at my school. cant wait for it im preparing for it now ^^

Oh man. We did pretty bad. We lost ALL 3 meets. :O

First - I saw us win the first 1, then lose the next 3...then our captain came out. Our best captain, (Armando) he's called "the master of technique" because he is so good. He gets PINNED in the 2nd round. What? Everyone on our team was in disbelief. Nobody has ever seen him get pinned. Ever. We were all silent for a good minute in a half, nobody said a word. After, he went over to the bleachers and just sat there head in hands and was pissed for like 10 mins. The next captain got up and beat on the other guy and won like 16-1. I'm not sure how bad we lost, but I think it was like 43-21 :O

Second - I didn't see all of the matches, but I watched the captain (Armando) F*CK his kid up. Within the first round, first 30 seconds, Armando came out guns blazing. He picked the kid up like 6 feet and slammed him down onto the kids right shoulder. He just turned a little and got the pin, the kid was in so much pain. It was a great form of redemption. The next captain got up and won 9-1. We ended up losing though :/

Third - I didn't pay attention until I heard everyone on our side screaming, cheering, and going nuts. So I ran over and watched as Armando tied the score up at 9 in the last 3 seconds of the match. We went crazy. In overtime Armando won 11-9 in the first 20 seconds. With that win, we took the lead. Then Luis (other captain) tooled on another kid like 14-3. Then the next guy after lost, next guy won, next guy lost. It all came down to one kid. He's either a junior or a senior. He fought off his shoulders 6 or 7 times, it was very good fighting. Then he had nothing left and got pinned. We lost. :/

JV, I didn't get to wrestle because there was only 1 school with 1 160 kid. It's really weird because our school has like 7 160's, and none of the other schools did.

One time in JV was so damn funny. One of the teams had a girl wrestler. I'm throwing it out there that she had an amazing body, and was incredibly beautiful. Idk why she was wrestling, she was so good looking ;). She was 125 and there was a kid on our team that was 130, so the coaches set it up. When the kid found out, he freaked. He didn't want to wrestle the girl. After the whole JV team trying to get him to, he finally whimped out and left. He went to the locker room for like an hour. The girl was sooo mad lol, because she was excited to wrestle and he backed out last second. I ended up talking with her for a while and she was extremely nice, she was a junior. The kid came out later and apologized to her lol.

So we lost all three, we're 0-3. Coach is gonna kill us Monday. I fear going to practice lol

Man, thats funny about the girl... Poor guy must of felt terrible lol

Weve got no more meets untill after the christmas holidays, but we had an olympic wrestler come to our practice last week, Gia Sissaouri. He was awaosme and tooled everyone. Our coach knew him from competition and theyre friends so it was really cool.

Im currently wrestling 171, my coach wants me to drop but im just not sure I can do it, plus I need to keep enough weight for football next year since I have a pretty hard time putting weight on and have to bulk alot over the summer.

Hope you have better luck in your next meet! And for everyone considerng wrestling its an awsome sport. Probably the most physically demanding one Ive ever played, but completely worht it!

Ahh you're lucky. We wrestle through Christmas. Last year there was a meet on Christmas eve. This year there is one on the 23rd. Our coach (who is a beast at wrestling) said he always used to run on Christmas day, and the way he rationalized it was that in his mind, he knew that nobody else in his weight class in the state was out running at that time. So he felt that no "chump" should beat him because of the time and effort he puts into it.

That's awesome to hear. The only visitors we get are coaches from other schools tooling on everyone, or as he says it "showing some moves" lol.

That makes sense with your weight. If you do well at thaat level, why not keep it going.

Thanks alot! I'll need it as our next meet is Wednesday. Where? at home, so my friends and family get to watch me (I'm nervous lol) Oh and it's also a single meet, so that all attention in the room will be on me

Tonight at wrestling practice it was amazing. I was the proudest of myself that I've been in a very long time.

Because we lost all 3 of our first matches Saturday, the coach was pissed. We did
-20 stairs
-very hardcore drilling, 10 different drills
-Live Wrestling
-25 minute incredibly intense conditioning (usually 15, and tonight was very very hard)
-15 stairs

Oh, and the kid that lost it for us on the third match at the end was made to do 500X500 (pushups/situps) after practice. The thing is, I've never seen a kid in so much pain with so much pride in what he was doing. He didn't get mad they had him do this, he knew it was his fault and was proud to be taking the pain. Amazing kid.

The part I wanna talk about is the Live Wrestling. When I got up to wrestle this kid who has an unbelievable amount of energy, I was nervous. After doing well and wrestling him for about 1-2 minutes, he got me in a hold where he locked his hands (can only do in pinning combos, this wasnt 1) across my face, and he was pulling my head farther and farther back. I swear, another 10 degrees and my neck would have snapped. But I didn't tap out, and after a while the captain (Armando) ran over and ripped the kid off and was yelling at him, and asking my if I was alright. I told him yea, but I was in a ton of pain.

In our practice matches, the first person to get points wins, and the match is over.

After about 10 minutes it came up to me and that kid again. In my mind I'm saying "I'm gonna rip the sh!t outta this kid" I was sooooo pissed. We started brawling tough for about 2 minutes and he almost got away (in referee position, if down man escapes he gets a point aka end of our practice match) but I took my right hand and with all I could, I locked onto his ankle. He tried to jump free but I had an incredibly airtight lock. I pulled it towards me and leaped from the ground onto him like a damn tiger. We ended up going about 20 feet away from our mats onto where the 189+s were wrestling. Then towards the end, he nearly got away again. The only thing in my mind I'm thinking of is what he did to my neck. So with everything I have, I lock onto him and swing my right leg infront of his and pop his knee cap so he falls. I made sure he landed hard onto his chest and face. Right away I get a Bar Arm and am trying to pin him, but like 2 189 guys are like tapping me yelling "thats points, thats points!!" so I got up and had 20-30 of the kids clapping for me. I even saw the coach and one of the captains smiling. It felt amazing! Woot! :D:D

I didn't know I had that beast inside of me. You really had to be there to see it, it was really an awesome match. Like 10 minutes long at least of nonstop fighting. God it felt good to not give up and to put that SOB in pain!

I saw an article regarding wrestling finishing moves...I have to say that these moves are legendary yet still alive.

What finishing move do you love most?

i wrestled for four years in high school and MAN I miss it! Ironically, I never got into weight lifting until I got to college, so I'm a heck of a lot stronger now than I was back then. I've been thinking about getting back into it...

When I graduated, I was team captain and wrestled 160 (and was 6'3" - skiiiiny I know). In my opinion, this is the toughest sport a high school kid can participate in. It takes a special person to be a good wrestler.

Man thats crazy, good for you. I feel bad for the guy who had to do the 500 by 500. As much as I get pissed at people who loose and wish that they would have to go through that i know our coach would never single someone out like that, hes all about the "team" Kinda sucks at time cause we all have to pay for some idiots mistake but wtv.

Damnit. We lost, in our own damn house. The team we were facing is 19th in the state. I didn't get to wrestle because they had no ****ing 160. I'm gonna talk to the coach next practice and make him guarentee me that I am wrestling on Saturday at least a few matches, whether there are 160 kids or not.

Our JV team got raped by them. We went about 7 kids deep until we finally got a win. With JV we only won like 2 or 3.

Then Varsity comes out. Very strongly, their warm up was insanely powerful, all the other team was just like "wow, holy ****" they were just staring and by the look of their faces they didn't want much of us.
-Different story when it came to actual fighting...

We lost sooo many. At one point it was 30-0. Yeah. Even our best captain, Armando, lost on points in 3 rounds because the kid in the last 20 seconds took the lead. Then our other captain came up and dominated, so far he hasn't lost a match... I might have to start calling Luis the Beast, as I call him, or as his more known nickname "Wolverine" the better of the two captains. Luis is 4-0 and Armando is 2-2.

We ended up losing Varsity 36-25. They were a very physical team and by the looks of it, we weren't. As the coach says, either you out trick him, or you out muscle him. We did neither. We have 3 teams on Saturday, hopefully we will be ready for them...

My mistake man, I didn't specify. The coach wasn't the one that was making him do it, one of the captains did. He actually has to do 1000x1000 but it is broken into 2 different days, so he did 1 on Monday and I think he is doing the other 500x500 tomorrow. I don't know if the coach even knows about it.

It depends on what happens. If kids are screwing around, like yesterday 1 kid dropped the scale, the coach made him and another kid that was just in the area do 20 stairs. If it is things like the whole Varsity team losing, he makes everybody pay. JV he doesn't care if we win or lose...we're not that important :p

man...we don't even have captains on our team. i think we should elect a couple, just to make up for the things the coach doesnt really take care of. such as making people pay for messing up, last meet we had a clean sheet against 3 seperate school except for one single loss. and the kid couldve won too. he just didnt go all out.

I hate it when they get put onto their back and are being pinned and fight it. Then after a little the just give up and go limp. They just accept defeat. I wanna run out there and just smack them in the head.

I'm surprised your team doesn't have captains. We have 2, the team we played tonight had 4...I didn't know teams didn't have captains.

Im currently wrestling 171, my coach wants me to drop but im just not sure I can do it, plus I need to keep enough weight for football next year since I have a pretty hard time putting weight on and have to bulk alot over the summer.

I've never had to cut weight for anything before but couldn't you just temporarily lose the weight through water and then gain it back again like the pros do? Granted, he has some of the best trainers in the world who would most likely know all the science behind cutting weight safely but Matt Huges usually cuts down from 190 (sometimes more)!
