workout routine for my gf?

A little background - my gf has recently, in the past 6 months or so, gained about 10-15lbs. She has very large breasts that she tells me makes her hate running. She hasn't really ever worked out seriously. She has worked as a lifeguard for the past 5 years, but stopped this year so swimming is an option?

I used to work out regularly, but have stopped in the past year or two and I've gained some flab too. I want to work out together to help motivate each other. I don't know anything about what exercises would be good for women.

Her goals would be to lose weight and tone up, while mine are to bulk up. What should we do?

Weight training? I know what to do for myself, but I don't know what exercises to have her do or at what weight/reps. Can someone help me here?

Should we go running together? She has huge breasts. I can't relate here. How bad is it?? Is there anything that could help?

Swimming?? I think that sounds like a good option, but again, all I know is my experiences with weight lifting for wrestling.

The exercises and reps should be no different for her as they are for you. If you train 3x12 one day, 5x5 the next, and 8x3 the last day, she should do the same. As far as the weights, they should be proportional to what you're lifting: whatever weight she needs to use to be challenging, just as you would. There is no difference in the ability of a female to lift weight or increase lean muscle. The difference occurs from less overall initial muscle mass and a difference in hormones.

A woman will not and basically CANNOT get too muscular, It's not going to happen without steroids. Period. Her best bet would be to follow a well-made routine, such as this:

As far as cardio, it doesn't need to be extensive. She will be far more successful with a good nutritional plan and weight training than relying on cardio exclusively. As it is, for her swimming could be an excellent option, as might something like bike riding (stationary as well as actual bike riding), stairclimber, or something more exotic such as dumbbell complexes.

As long as you support her in the weight room and make her feel confident and strong, she will have no trouble sticking to the workouts and being successful.

:D This just tickled me as I work so hard for muscle! Some woman act as if they work out with weights that they will be muscle bound.

Yeah, they need to see those pics of Patricia pulling 315lbs.

Kurosh, first off, congratulations for wanting to improve! As fas as her breasts go, she needs to find a GOOD support sports bra, the kind you buy at a Sports Chalet or the like. They can be pricy but well worth it :) Especially if running is what she enjoys, it will be a good investment.

(and I'm with you missannie-I want to gain muscle, but it's virtually impossible! I settle for what I can get lol)
