working out twice in one day

Not a good idea bro. Your muscles need a chance to heal between workouts. If you're lifting twice in one day, you increase your risk of injury.
 
well, i was thinking that my arms and shoulders day was a little too long for one session, since cortisol levels rise after 45-60 minutes in the gym...so i was considering doing something like triceps and shoulders in the morning and traps and biceps in the afternoon or evening.

which makes me have to wonder, how long do cortisol levels stay elevated after a workout?
 
I recall reading somewhere that the minimum rest period between sessions should be 40 minutes. The premise of the book I read it in was that 2 40 minute sessions (each working different muscles, of course) with at least a 40 minute break in between was better than one 1.5 hour session.
