working my abs every day ?

My abs just seem to be somthing i can work every day i tend to do them before i go to bed at the moment i do 2 sets of 40 and they are burning after that lol is this ok ?

From what I have read, the abs are more of endurance type of muscle, and can handle alot of stress. However, I believe the best approach is to allow rest inbetween WO sessions to allow muscle recovery/recuperation/rebuilding.
Some will tell you to allow rest like you would any other body part, some will tell you differently. See how YOUR body responds to this stimulous, if after a few weeks (OF PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD WITH THE ABS) of what your trying to do works, then fine. If not, you need to re-evaluate your training and rest ratios.

by rest u mean overnight sleep ? i mean my abs feel good again every morning ? why not work them again when i do other kinds of workouts some times my muscles are kinda sore and such but my abs im not sure hey but yeah they are geting so much more tonned and bigger i wish i could put some pics up but i have no way to :(

an example is that they only used to stick out when i sat on a chair and like pushed real hard now i stand strait and there sticking out :) not as BIG as id like them to be but they stick out now no matter what :)

I was saying rest for the ab muscles

Sometimes persons see good results and think MORE is better, and this IS NOT the case sometimes. Believe it or not one can overtrain the ab core.

I dont think you should train them 7 days a week, or everyday. They need time to repair, and you MAY get better results doing them every other day. Remember msucles grow WHEN THEY REST and repair, and you would be leaving little time for this if done everyday.

Set yourself up a regaular ab routine, I suggest, 3 to 4 times weekly, and progressive overload. I advocate lower reps for the abs (some may disagree as these are endurance muscles).

When I say low (its actually high), meaning 15 to 20 (25). I dont think its necessary, to go beyond 40 reps. As you get stronger, you will be doing 100 eventually. There are various things you can do to keep the reps in the range of up to 25. I train these like any
other muscle, and ad weight to my exercises for progressive overload, and then let them rest. Sometimes Im sore, and sometimes Im not, and soreness is not necessarily an indication you worked them hard (necessarily, I say)

Why work them every day when you don't have to? Just b/c you can, doesn't mean you should.

And I don't think everyday is optimal anyhow.

I was told NOT to work your abs everyday. You need to rest them I suppose just like your arms or legs :) So I agree with you guys :)

Ok well i guess ill do 2 sets of 30 every 2nd day. its strange to coz ive been doing the 2 sets of 30 for ages my abs have stuck out heeps more but i still find it just as hard to do the 2 sets of 30 ?

could it be possible your misinterpretating your results? Just a thought.

could it possibly be that your diet is the one assisting with the abs coming out and being seen more rather than your, hopefully, previously everyday ab routine? I dont know what your diet in calories are, but its something to think about.

LOL! Seriously, though, if you dont like the feelin of "fullness" when your stomach is full, dont do what causes that!

Oh so weather im full as can be or have an empty gut not saying i work out on a empty gut. but yeah it doesent mean **** ? coz i would of thaut mayby that the extra mass in my belly would have some sort of an effect on my abs being able to move freely ???

ok well regardless of a throwing up feeling having a full belly of food should not really be taken into consideration when doing ab exercises ? and if i do it with a full belly next time and feel like throwing up i guess i wont do it :)

If you dont throw up, and dont mind the fullness feeling, this is fine. It wont hurt your progress. WHAT WILL hurt your progress is eating too much or mre than your body needs for a given day and accumulation of days over what you need, this is SERIOUSLY detrimental your ab progress, MORE SO, than any ab exercise program. Too many calories (even when growing muscle) WILL be stored as fat.

yeah i should probly get that down coz i do eat healthy as posible i never eat **** at all !!!! i try to eat like 5-6 meals a day like so far i got up had 2 peices of toast with vegimite and a apple went to the gym at about 9 got home had a bowl of oats with choped banana and bit of honey then had 2 bits of bread with john west tuna. the tuna seems healthy as it has like 19 grams of protein fat total is 0.7 grams and has 130 mg of omega 3 and like 2.9 grams of sugar thats it and with a boiled egg and its 12:30 PM
