Work Abs till they hurt??

i already have a six pack and very lean stomach.I am looking for wider an bigger abs tho.I breakdance and i do ab workouts quite regularly,i intake alot of high proptein to.Rarely do i work out an they hurt tho,i do tons of reps to...of crunches,hanging raises,etc.....should i be doing so many that my abs hurt the next day or no?
 
many are of the opinion that you should hit the abs just like other muscles with weights and low to medium reps. :)
