Llama ... have you never been bowling? the one i still don't get is bone... pick? i would have suggested guitar or seat... or even better, albeit a bit gross... nose?

You can have a bone to pick with someone, that's what I assumed they meant.
I wasn't aware that the canals on the side of the bowling thingy (which I also don't know the English word for :D ) were called gutters. I think I've been bowling twice in my life.
 
ok... bone to pick... didn't think of that one. pretty sure everyone here has done the puzzle by now... no need to hide this. actually now i'm wondering how that saying came to being. Google answer...

"Bone to pick," dates back to the 16th century, simply refers to a dog chewing endlessly on, and "picking clean," a large bone. A "bone to pick" is thus a subject or issue that is expected to require considerable discussion or argument.

i believe it was an old Monty Python skit that went something like...
"...and as the Queen enters the room, all eyes are upon her as she picks her seat." ... :)

got the first three connections pretty fast, but glad i didn't spend a lot of time trying to figure out the last 4 words... i doubt if i would ever have thought of that connection, especially since i think of pitchforks as having 5 tines ... not three. even the horseshoe shape is a bit of a stretch.

Where I come from you have pitchforks for hay (generally 2 or 3 tines) and ones for mucking out animal pens where straw is mixed with manure (4 or 5 tines). We use different words for them and they're definitely not the same thing. I assume whoever made that puzzle was thinking of a trident and thought all three were the same thing.

i got Connections with a single flub, but i did it on my iPad and it is hard to recreate the same choices on my PC since only the results are remembered. when it came down to the 4th connection, again i was stumped to see the connection as with probably anyone who didn't know about her cookbook. a NYT book review?

I didn't know the author or the book but I'd heard of the cooking show (Netflix?) by the same person.

again, i really wish there were some way to move the words around. grate could have been cheese and poker could be a casino game, but it would have been even easier if the words could be sorted.
