why water is so important for weight loss

7-8 litres of water?
7-8 litres per day?
Isn't that a tad much?

I would say so. That's about 2 gallons per day, probably 17 pounds worth of water per day! I've seen even the most hardcore of athletes who would brag about how much water they drink only drinks 1.5 gallons on a regular basis. There's no reason for a normal person to drink that much. I try to drink a gallon but that's probably pushing it just a little. I only do that because I ride bikes so much.

Nails disolved in Coke

I think I'll get a can of coke...and take a nail clipping when I cut my nails to see if this works........ Thank goodness I don't drink soda n e way........to sugary and syrupy for me......

it actually does make a great toilet cleaner though- it doesn't sanitize but it makes the bowl incredibly white and sparkly :D
Lol, i pay a cleaner - she cleans behind the toilet where the worst mess is (to many young males in the household lol).

On another note, pouring some baking soda down the bath/shower drain and then pouring some viniger afterwards cleans all the body fat and crap out of the pipes real well. Go easy on the products though eh - they react and make a nice foamy acid :D

Soup!

Morning,

I'm new here and have just re-again made the connection with drinking water and losing weight.

My question is the following - I love making soups out of chicken, beef, veggies, etc. It makes up quite a lot of my water intake. Would you say this contributes towards the 64 ounces of water one should drink?

Thanks!

Barbt

Hi everyone,

I have actually put a dirty copper coin into coke and let it sit in the coke for a couple of minutes. The coin comes out very shiny and clean looking new. Hate to think what it must do to our insides.

Coca-Cola does contain small amounts of citric acid and phosphoric acid; however, all the insinuations about the dangers these acids might pose to people who drink Coca-Cola ignore a simple concept familiar to any first-year chemistry student: concentration. Coca-Cola contains less citric acid than orange juice does, and the concentration of phosphoric acid in Coke is far too small (a mere 11 to 13 grams per gallon of syrup, or about 0.20 to 0.30 per cent of the total formula) to dissolve a steak, a tooth, or a nail overnight. (Much of the item will dissolve eventually, but after a day or two you'll still have most of the tooth, a whole nail, and one very soggy t-bone.)

I gotta admit, some of the claims are really funny :D

I believe so!!! WOW, who would even consider drinking that much water in a day??

My mom goes to a holistic doctor and while he agrees that you need a lot of water, he says a really good formula to follow is, I believe, 1 ounce for every 40 lbs of body weight per half hour. So a 120 lbs person would need 3 ounces every half hour. That isn't hard for anyone to do. He said for a normal sized person, 8 ounces at one time really doesn't do the body much good that it just goes strait through you but if you drink 3-4 ounces every half hour then the water goes where it should and you stay well hydrated. He said it works better just to sip water all day long rather than drink a whole bunch in one sitting because again, it will just go strait through you.

On another note, my sister started getting this itchy hive like thing on her body. It started as bug like bites but they were swelling and ended up hurting really bad to touch. They would itch but they hurt so bad when she touched them that she couldn't really scratch them. Her whole body swelled up and just hurt tremendously. She took 4 days off work which is NOT like her at all, she doesn't even use her vacation until she has to or else loose them. Anyway, she went to this same holistic doctor and he told her that her kidneys were failing because she wasn't drinking enough water. He gave her some vitamins and told her to drink lots and lots of water. She did and she looks great now. After about 4 days of drinking nothing but water (she's afraid to even touch another soft drink or alchoholic drink) all of the swelling is gone!! I don't think I would have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself--it was crazy!! Made me realize how important water was that's for sure.

I've been drinking about a gallon of water a day which is alot. What I do to make sure I keep drinking is to make sure I have a variety of good healthy things to drink around me. Celestial Seasonings makes a cold herbal tea powder that is sweetened with stevia (no calories and all natural), and I also make plenty of herb teas, and also add lemon or lime juice to my water.

Drinking water keep your body clean, maintain te good functions of all major organs. Water acts as apetite suppressor and thus help in losing weight.

Thank you for the useful piece of information! I already drink enough water but it's nice to know it's doing me good!

Happy weight loss everybody!

when i drink 1/2 a gallon a day i lose about 1/2 a pound a day. when i drink a gallon i lose a pound. so i drink about a gallon of distilled water every day and don't mix it with anything- a kind of detox thing. i also workout so i need it. i don't even notice it anymore cuz it's become a habit. and it's working!

I am re-started my Diet today and am a bit afraid of drinking TOO MUCH water.

I am 250 pounds and am 6'2 so I know I need to drink a LOT of water but what I do is keep a 30fl oz cup by my desk at work and drink it non-stop all day. Fill it up very often....I dunno, I figure I need to clean my body out and so far I have peed 4 times in 2 hours :(

How much is really TOO MUCH?

Please read this article before you drink massive amounts of water. Yes, water is necessary, but the idea that the vast majority of people are walking around dehydrated is poppycock. Also, the idea that the water in all the food you eat, as well as the other things you drink, doesn't count is also wrong. The proponents of this myth also dramatically exaggerate the diuretic effects of coffee.

I drink 3 liters of water --spread out throughout the day--and stopping by 6 pm at night. I am usually in bed by 9 pm (cause I have to get up before 5 a.m.--I work 7-4) so this way I am not up during the night using the bathroom (and disturbing my precious sleep! hehehehehe). Getting enough sleep is also important for good health and weight loss!

what about flavored carbonated water? it sure is easy to meet those goals when what you're drinking tastes like pop! is there any reason it won't work the same?
