Why can I not lose as fast as others seem to be?

I know this is kind of late.. If you are doing everything right, exercise, eating healthy, and water intake. You may want speak to your dr. to have your thyroid checked. It is not uncommon for women with pcos to have an underactive thyroid. If you are not doing so already. Eliminate highly processed foods, sugar and white flour. eat more whole grains. good luck.

I doubt she has thyroid issues. She has managed to lose weight [the 44lbs] without any problems... The main thing I see is a repeat of every single day. I cannot remember who posted it but someone mentioned to change things up and I agree with that statement.

I have managed to lose 88lbs in the past 13 months but I had my fair share of platues. That's when I knew it was time to change my routine around and 'shock' my body/metabolism into high gear again and it always worked.

It does not sound like you have hit a platue though. The amount of weight you have lost in the time you have is normal and healthy. You should be losing between 1-3lbs a week. I always say that if you are looking for a 'quick fix', then you will only receive a 'quick gain' in the end, meaning if you try and lose more weight then what is healthy in a short amount of time, that weight, if not more, is just going to come right back on just as fast.

I don't think 44 lbs in a year is bad. I mean I could see maybe a little more than that being lost in a year, but not much. You shouldn't be losing 30 lbs in 5 weeks. That's insanely unhealthy.

You aren't doing anything wrong I'm sure. Remember that how quickly we lose not only depends on our diet and exercise, but can be affected by many other things too such as our body type, metabolism, age, gender, etc.

Also remember that if you are working out a lot you may be losing more inches than you think and not seeing this reflected on the scale because you have gained muscle weight.

Hang in there...I do believe age plays some factor(we are the same age and I'm finding the last 30 pounds or so unbelievably hard but overall I've gone from 290 ish to 175 in 18 months).

WOW that is some awesome progress. What kind of diet are you following?
