What is depo? What is your age, height, weight, body fat %, current workout routine, current meal plan, etc. More info is needed. There are a lot of posts on here that talk about getting started and exactly how to do that. Look at some other posts. Here are 5 tips to fat loss as well. But I do not know what depo is off the top of my head. So if it's some sort of medication and one of the side effects is weight gain... there may not be a whole lot you can do other than talk with your doctor about lowering your dose, changing medications or some other route s/he recommends.

1) Eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day. Each meal should be 2-3 hours apart. Each meal should contain one protein and one carb. The first meal should be eaten within an hour after waking.

2) Drink lots of water :)

3) Rest properly. This means taking at least 24-48 hours between strength training the same muscles, and it also means getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Lastly, it means taking 1-2 days off from exercising per week.

4) Cardio. This should be done at different intensity levels and different session lengths. Consider doing a low intensity/long session, a high intensity/short session and a few medium intensity/medium length sessions.

5) Strength Training. Strength train each muscle 1-3 times per week. You should lift a proper weight and perform the proper amount of sets/reps for your strength training method. If you need more guidance or exercise ideas you can head over

All of the above things combined will result in fat loss.

Depo is a birth control injection that gives you enough hormones in one shot that you don;t have a period for three months and then you get another injection. Pretty much keeping your estrogen level high all the time. AS all women know when your hormones are rageing you gain weight.

If I were you I would try to drink tons of water to get rid of the water weight and try really hard to watch that you are eating well. I find that by keeping a journal of what I eat I do a better job of eating right, the depo shot screws with your hormones (like all birth control) so you may be eating more sweet and salty food then you realize.

Thats just my two cents I'm not expert but deal alot with medication at work so I hope thats helpful.....

im currently 120. i used to be 98, then 106. i want to go back to being 106. im 5'4. i eat rice nearly everyday (just realised thats bad since i joined this board), i eat lots of potatoes, no veggies, no fruits, lots of candy when im at work, at least 3 cans of coke daily. yeah, bad. im not sure what type of food im supposed to start eating now. ive stopped drinking coke yesterday and ive been drinking water. i get headaches from drinking water (especially cold) so i add lemon and warm it up

im taking these vitamins for my hair:
biotin, 5000mcg
MSM - 3000mg (reduced to 1500mg because im prone to migraines and the high dosage made me get them everyday and sometimes they would continue to the next day)
horsetail - 500mg
multi vitamin
vitamin C - 1000mg
flaxseed oil - 1000mg

do i have to get rid or lower the dosage of any of these vitamins?

No veggies and fruit? They are so critical for our health! To tell you the truth, your diet sounds pretty unhealthy and not condusive to losing fat.

I highly recommend consulting with a personal trainer or nutritionist to work on developing the best eating plan for you. As for workouts, there is plenty you can do without being a gym member. You can do cardio outside by going for walks, jogs or bike rides. With a few dumbbells you can do a full body weight routine at home.

Please let me know if I can be of more help to you.

I definately agree with Sarah that you want to make sure to get your fruits and vegetables...and protein! Depo, like all oral contraceptives, have an affect on carbohydrate metabolism which is why there is a side effect of weight gain. Right now your diet is a lot of empty calories, especially the coke and candy! If you want to research some great vitamins for hair etc. I recommend

Also if your headaches get really bad talk to your doctor because oral contraceptives also can increase the incidence of headaches.

Stay positive! I'm sure you still look great!

Ugh

I just wanted to add.... Ugh. It's people like you that make me want to scream. You wear a size 2 (poor thing) and drink three cans of coke, eat candy, and rice, and don't work out. Should I kill you now? (I'm only kidding-sort of)

Anyway, yes, the huge amount of carbs you are eating are bad. Try switching to veggies and complex carbs.

yes. ive known but ive been sort of lazy. its the weight gain that made me realize that i have to do something about it. yes, kill me. lol. im going to go stock up on fruits and veggies and look into what you guys have said. thanks

Just want to add that weight gain IS A NORMAL SIDE EFFECT of birth control. And being 5'4" and wanting to be around 100 pounds? Not sure about that either. You need to focus on getting healthy first, my friend.

Eat well. Stop the sugar stampede and cozu up to fruits and veggies. Start cardio and strength training, But EAT first. Your weight should not be of concern right now. You just need to focus on being healthy :)

Good luck. Just be fit. Healhy. Alive. And happy with your body.
