When Your Fat Jeans Become Your Skinny Jeans

142!!:party Only 7 more pounds to go!! I am totally happy for you :D Good job Laura..hope u don't leave us when you have lost those last 7 lbs...

I sat down on the couch with mint M&Ms on Sunday night when I discovered the Sex and the City movie was on, and guess what? I didn't eat any! Not one.

Oooohhhh.... Yummy! I love those things! I have not allowed a single one to pass my lips in over a year because once I start I can NOT lay off until the whole bag is gone!

And I LOVE Sex and the City!!!! I have the whole HBO series and both movies on DVD (sweet hubby bought them for me). I've seen them all, but they are next on my list of running entertainment. Since all my running takes place on my treadmill I always pop in a TV series on DVD and watch one episode each time I run. On my slow days I can go just over 3 miles in one episode, and on my faster days I go just over 4 miles in an episode. Then on Sundays I watch 2 episodes back to back and run 7 miles usually. Right now I'm working my way thru the Alias series. Nothing like watching a woman with my dream body kick ass while I run to keep me motivated to keep going!

So if you were 142 with clothes on, that means you may be in the 130s by now! YAY!!!! :hurray:

BikiniBound/Priscilla - She has a name!!! :) I remember sneaking around your diary before to see if anyone used your name.. we can?t all be as unimaginative as myself when it comes to picking usernames, haha. Way to resist the ice cream! A turkey sandwich sounds delicious and I LOVE grapes! I don?t buy them usually, though, because I tend to forget they?re around and all of a sudden they?re all wrinkly and gross. But they bring in fruit and bagels every Friday at the office, so I get them once a week at least.

Island Girl
? Don?t you worry, I am sticking around!!! I need to focus on different exercises to tone up now. Specifically my legs and butt. I still wouldn?t be caught dead in a bathing suit without shorts or a little skirt or something. I see girls that weigh more than me rocking bathing suits and looking gorgeous, but I am not quite that confident yet.

Tig ? They are so good, aren?t they??? The ex and I each got a bag in our stocking, and also a bag of Dove peppermint bark. Ex doesn?t eat sweets, so guess who is on her third bag of chocolate since Christmas!!! UGH. The last bag of Dove hasn?t been opened yet, and there are still m&ms at least. I have all of the Sex and the City stuff, too, but haven?t seen the second movie yet. I watched them when they were on some non-HBO channel (and never had HBO, for that matter) so it took me a bit to adjust to all the parts they censor on cable! I loved the first movie though. And I love your method of watching DVDs on the treadmill! I have a lot of DVDs but I never think to put them on, except a couple of weeks ago when I went on a major Gilmore Girls kick.

Oh, and yeah, I may have seen the 130s a time or two on the scale!! I haven?t changed my ticker in forever, though. Just got back from the gym, did about a 5k distance. Drank my chocolate milk, now waiting on ex to get out of the shower so I can get in. [He has to be in New Hampshire this morning, and his parents practically live in Rhode Island. We are right in the middle, so he needed to save a little bit of commute time.] I say whatever I see on the scale right now, that?s what I?m changing my ticker to! Unless it?s higher, of course, hehe. [EDIT: 138.6! I'll change the ticker when I'm on my computer.]

While I wait, I will tell you all that my snacking last night wasn?t great, but I blame that on the ex being here. I made a huge omelet for the two of us (ham, onion, red pepper and cheese) which was delicious. Snacked on one serving of M&Ms (210 cal) one low-cal fudgsicle (60 cal) and maybe a half a serving of potato skins (we?ll say 80 cal). That?s 350 calories for dessert. The day was pretty good though, had a burrito in a bowl from Boloco, which is my go-to lunch, no breakfast, and only one mini Reese?s for a snack at the office.

"You're in training Laura!!" Get those runs in!!
In all honesty you are doing great and when it gets down to two months and the weather warms up you won't have to force yourself to do it - you will want to do it and it will feel so much more easy. I think I only really trained for a solid month before my half and I think I did okay so you have lots of time left. Once you get settled into a new place and start getting used to your new routine it will all fall into place.
Great work on the scale - I wish it was more my friend these days! Can't wait to never see the 150's again! Keep it up Laura!:seeya:

I miss writing out my meals... I do NOT miss calorie counting. I'm going to give this another shot!

Wednesday:

Breakfast:
1 cup of coffee with skim milk
1 cup low sugar apples & cinnamon oatmeal
Lunch:
Salad with Italian dressing
Pasta salad
Chicken with rice
(I took a picture! Look, half my plate is salad!)
Dinner:
Surprise dinner out...
1/2 bottle of wine
1 cup clam chowder
1 piece bread with butter
1/2 order of steak tips
1/2 order of veggies
1/2 order sweet potato fries
Desserts/Snacks:
Orange herbal tea (my first time trying it, very subtle, I like it)
Mint herbal tea
2 cookies (one chocolate chip, one sugar)
1 mini Reese's cup
Exercise:
5K run at 5:30am. Goal was to run for 35 minutes; almost made it, but not quite. Stopped at 32. Min speed 5.6, max speed 6.4 (I think). Started out slow for a couple of songs and bumped it up 0.1 after every subsequent song.

In case any of you were wondering, low fat, no salt added cottage cheese is NOT GOOD! I brought a little cup to bed with me as a midnight snack, took one bite, and legit ran to the kitchen to get something to get the taste out of my mouth. I tried it, at least, but the rest is going into the garbage disposal!

Yuck! :ack2: Thanks for the warning!

I saw some of the cottage cheese in the fridge today at work and cringed a little. Blech.

Went on a 5 mile run on Monday. My left calf is still killing me, but I need to suck it up and get to the gym tonight regardless. The coordinators of our race asked us on Monday to tell them our "average" 10k time... All my friends and I freaked out a little, considering none of us had ONE time to give. And that is where I got the motivation to do 5 miles after not running for a week.

And I want to apologize profusely for not being at all active around here. You guys have stuck with me, though and I love you all for that!

Good job on the 5 miles! You'll get there in no time with the weather sure to start warming up soon!

Keep on truckin' girl!

Thanks, Tig! On Monday I’m going to blast off an e-mail to everyone I know that’s part of our relay race and get them to sign up for a St. Patrick’s Day 5k. The weather could be disgusting, as it was last year, when I picked up my t-shirt a few days early and then didn’t actually show up for the run. But hopefully if we haven’t gotten into the swing of things then, that will be the beginning of two months of hardcore training for us all!!

130! way to go!
Well I’m not 130, I’m just IN the 130s…. but thank you!!!!

Just got back from an AMAZING run!!! 55 minutes, total distance of 5.56. If you’re doing the math, that means less than a ten minute mile average pace, which excites me. A lot. It wasn’t even as hard as other runs had been. I tried a new technique. I alternated between 5.7, 6.0, and 6.3, changing the speed with each song. It is amazing that now a speed of 5.7 feels like “rest.” My little bro and I were discussing that idea earlier this week. Finishing was definitely hard, but the fact that I didn’t just stop when I got to 5 miles was pretty big for me.

In general, I have been keeping pretty busy. Spent about a million dollars (or so it seemed) at Target today, shopping for the new apartment. And also bought FOUR PAIRS OF SHOES, eeek. When did I become a shoe person? I have no idea. They were all pretty cheap, though. Bought my mattress this week, too, so that’s good… unfortunately the one day they don’t deliver is the day I’m moving in (Thursday). That means I will be sleeping on an Aerobed for the first couple of nights in my new apartment, but I also save $90 on delivery because a friend with a truck offered to pick it up on the weekend instead. I have been sleeping very little these past few weeks, and finally it all caught up with me…. Last night I passed out on the couch at around 6:45 (yes, on a Friday, I am way cool, haha), woke up around 8:30 for just long enough to make my way to bed, then slept through til 7am. Thought “Wow, that sun is pretty and bright!” and looked up which Target opened up the earliest. Discovered one that opened up at 8 am, versus the one I was going to go to that is in a mall and opened up later. Then went back to sleep until after 10. :blush5: Guess I needed it!!

Moving day is coming up fast, isn't it? I hope that all goes well and that you enjoy your new apartment!

So what kinds of shoes did you get? I like shoes WAY too much!

I hate Facebook! This morning I recalled way too clearly why I didn't miss it while I had it deactivated for six months. I am generally happy with my life. My recent decisions were good ones (albeit a little late), I have a great job with amazing co-workers, a few close friends, a grad degree, a good family... But when I spend too much time on that stupid website I start comparing myself to others and I just can't stop, no matter how irrational it is! Seeing everyone's wedding pics, baby updates, or party pics from the weekends, or status updates about fabulous vacations they're taking. That's when I start to feel that I should be at a different place in my life. I try to remind myself that I am 25 and have tons of time to do all those things, but that only helps a little. Argh :(

Tig, here's a pic of a new pair I'm wearing today!! I may regret it if I discover I can't avoid all of the slushy snow mess that's covering Boston when I go out later, but I really wanted to wear them!! I also got a pair of dark purple flats which is perfect because I LIVE in purple. I want to post a pic of another pair I got but I left everything but this pair I'm wearing in the car. Just going to move them straight to the new apartment. But they have a small amount of animal print, which is a first for me!! They'll be really cute with a skirt once the weather warms up.

Ohhh... Me likey! Are they ankle high boots? Not sure that pretty suede is going to last in slushy, wet, weather though. I love the look of suede, but I try to avoid buying anything made with it because I always seem to ruin it after only wearing a couple of times.

Don't put too much emphasis on the stuff you see on facebook. You are just at a different place in your life then other people are. You made different choices. Others your age may be getting married or have a kid or 2 by now, but that means they didn't choose getting a grad degree like you did. It's pretty hard to pursue your education AND have time for a husband and kids. Your time for all that will come. No need to rush!

Besides, you never know. Some of those people on facebook may be jealous of the life you've made for yourself. You are young, unattached and not tied down. The world is your oyster!

Holy crap that picture came out big, haha. I uploaded from my phone, and didn't know it would come out like that! Yep, they are ankle boots. They survived one night out in the city, although I was definitely the annoying girl who had to walk all the way around the puddles and whatnot. Totally worth the effort, though. Here’s a pic of one of the other pairs. Just a tiny bit of animal print, I like it! Hopefully with my new walk-in closet, I can have my shoes more within eyesight and will actually wear all these new pairs. I am SO excited for my walk-in closet! Although I have less closets overall, so I am guessing it will get filled up VERY quickly, but that’s ok. Cannot believe that I have only three more nights til I move. I am not doing well at all with packing, so it’s really going to end up being a ton of trips back and forth on Thursday with a laundry basket stuffed with random items. Thankfully I’m only moving a couple of miles away.

Thanks, Tig, for your words of wisdom! I know all of these things, deep down inside, I just need to be reminded every now and then. I have no idea how happy any of these people really are, or where they will be in five years from now. And I know that something would have suffered terribly had I added anything else onto my plate before now. I cannot handle too many things at once, nor did I have time to with the crazy hours I was working up until June. But now I have time to enjoy myself, relax, have spontaneous Thursday night outings followed by carefree weekends that turn out nothing at all like I planned! The world IS my oyster!!!

:drool5::drool5::drool5:

Serious case of shoe envy going on here! I like these even more (if that's possible!) and adore that little strip of animal print. So sexy!

I wish I had a walk in closet myself, but sadly I don't. Sandals and more summery shoes are all over the floor of the closet in the guest room, boots and a few pairs of pumps are all over the floor of my closet, and I have boxes of shoes that I leave at work, partly because I wear crappy shoes to/from work so my good ones don't get ruined, and partly because if I leave them at work then hubby doesn't know just how many pairs I have! :coolgleamA:

:cuss:

I am very mad at the leasing agent at my new apartment! I was told I was going to have a view of the pool and the dog park. We didn't look at my exact apartment when we went, just one with the same floor plan. He e-mails me today and says whoops, just kidding, you actually have a view of the parking lot! “I really hope the view wasn’t a crucial necessity for you.” I wrote him back and said regardless of whether it was or wasn't, you told me I'd have a pool view and I am no longer getting the unit that was advertised for me. The only solution he had was offering me a more expensive apartment on the first floor, which I had specifically said I didn't want. I told him I was surprised that that was the only thing they could offer me. He then said he would personally buy a gift card for me for somewhere, which for some reason made me laugh, but I am still angry. The view was definitely not a deal-breaker, but bottom line is he didn't know what he was talking about. This guy also showed up fifteen minutes late for our appointment (which was his first appointment of the day), had major trouble getting into the building we looked at, and then proceeded to try to enter an occupied apartment. "I've never done that before." Right, I bet.
