when to eat protein?

I heard you are supposed to eat protein containing food 1.5-2 hours BEFORE working out. Is this correct, or does it not matter if you eat after before?

Thanks.

Yea its good to have a protein containing food and a complex carb 60-90 minutes previous to your workout, and then a protein shake and a simple carb, such as a piece of fruit 15-30 minutes before your workout to give you some quick energy

i usually drink a protein shake DURING my workout, and then have a meal such as tuna or chicken 20-30 mins AFTER my workout. its been working fine for me, not saying its the proper way, but hey after a while u start to figure out ur own way of doing things. :beerchug:

Well, hopefully your eating more than one meal containing some amount of protein a day...

I don't believe beginners need to mess with meal timing all that much. Its benefit aren't drastic and it tends to annoy n00bs. Meaning? More likely you are to quit when you feel you MUST obsess over timing and everything else.

Simply eat a healthy and well balanced diet, exercise, and rest.

Exactly right.

Oh and yes I do eat more than one meal containing protein a day. In fact, ALL my meals contain protein. Rule of thumb, no?:)

Thanks for the input :)
