What's the best diet for muscle growth

I made another thread a few days ago, but the first post was long and I think people didn't want to read the whole thing. haha. But anyway, I still had a couple questions.

Basically, I'm a skinny kid who wants to gain weight mostly in the form of muscle. I know diet plays a big part in muscle development, but I'm not sure how. I've been told I should eat a lot more than I'm used to, but what types of food would be best for muscle size gain? I'm assuming protein is included...but what else?

Also, recommendations for about how many calories i should be taking in per day would help too. Thanks everyone!

The basics

Tuna, salmon, chicken breast, other lean meat and dairy products (ie. milk)

eat lots of complex carbs (slow burning - in other words not the type you get from mars bars and "sweet" foods). However take in simpe carbs after a workout.

1 gram of protein per pound of bodywieght. So if you weigh 150Lbs eat 150grams of protein per day. Not sure how many calories per day but if had to take an educated guess i'd say about 2500 - 3000 per day. I've never actually bothered counting my calories because i know what i do works. It also depends on how big you already are. So if you're a thin 5' and 110 pounds then you'd bviously need alot less than if you were a thin 6'8" and 190 pounds.

If you are increasing your protein intake then be sure you have a solid workout to use it all or you will start putting on fat. Read the post on clean bulking it is a very good one.
