What weight dumbbells?

I hope this is right right section to post this in..
I'm a female, 107 lbs. and 5'3. I'm no bodybuilder, but i've started working out a little just trying to tone things up. I really want to gain some muscle in my butt. I've been doing some exercises but I just can't seem to feel it much in my butt, so I figure maybe it's time to buy some dumbbells? What I can't figure out is what weight to start with. I looked at some at ****s and wasn't sure if maybe 15 lbs. would be good, or maybe 20 lbs. or so?
Also, what size ankle weights? I don't know what exactly I would use the ankle weights for.
(any suggestions? for my butt, or calves.)

Go on Craigslist and get a bunch of dumbells, cheap. I'd go 5, 10, 15, 20, 25. Do weighted squats, and if you do them correctly you will definitely feel it in your butt. Push through your heels, not the ball of your foot. Weighted lunges are good too. I'd skip the ankle weights, personally.

why so many different weights? I can't really afford that many and I didn't see any that were too cheap in my area on craiglist. If I just bought two of them, what weight would you think?

So many weights for two reasons:

1) You will then have enough 'ammunition' to do a bunch of different exercises. For instance if you choose to work shoulders with lateral raises or front raises, that takes very little weight. But for squats you need a lot more. For chest, back and arm exercises, you will be somewhere in between.

2) As you progress, you will get stronger, thus necessitating more weight to increase resistance.

I'm not sure exaclty where in PA you are, but there is someone in Carlisle selling a bunch of dumb bells. And remember you can and should ALWAYS negotiate for a better price. People expect it. Here is one link, he is selling more than just these.

If your are looking for a good "butt" workout - get on all fours and just do "Fire Hydrants" and Kick Backs". See if you can work out to three sets of 50 ;) For me it burns. Squats and lunges are good - but do not target that area sepcifically. Ankle weights will definitely bring the burn a little more too. Hope this helps.

Is it a good sore? Or is it a "I pulled something" sore? There are muscles worked that are not typcially worked when doing those. Make sure you stretch and drink lots of water :) I am assuming (being a positive guy I am) that it is a good sore, and that you are reshaping some un-worked muscles :) Just stretch , stretch, stretch :) Yuu will be worked :) BRING IT!
