what to do for the gluteus

iv been doing heavy weighted squats (the same weight as my bench press), and its definitely a workout. for my THIGHS that is! my buttocks are only getting a mediocre workout. i mean they might be just slightly sore while my thighs can be in so much pain i can barely walk. obviously squats are more thigh oriented than butt. so what can i do that'll mainly focus on the glutes??

my quads are getting an incredible workout. but thats not what im aiming for... according to bodybuilding.com, the glutes are minor muscles worked in barbell full squats, and the same for lunges. under the "glute workouts" page, there are NO weighted excersizes listed. only things like the butt lift (bridge), leg lift etc, excersize done entirely with your body.

They really said that? Jee-Zus! You're kidding me. This is exactly why you may hear me rail against stupid bodybuilding magazines (all of them) written by stupid bodybuilders. There is no greater workout for the glutes than squats and lunges. You my do some "butt blasters" to pump up the glute a little, but if you are really trying to get that butt to perk up, you better get under a bar and squat. If you could provide me with a link to that article so I can write the idiot author a little note and perhaps a small exercise phys. lesson.

Just so you don't think me insane, you can see what I mean here:

And golly, here is a whole page of glute exercises:

If you aren't hitting your glutes, you just aren't doing squats properly. I have to see you to tweek your form, but that's my guess. I would have an experienced, degreed and certified trainer watch your form. Its worth the $50 to make sure you're doing it right.
