what to do during cut?

A little back ground, I have been using Bill Stars 5x5 for about 7 months now. Got some great results in strenth gains, but I also didn't cout calories and gained a lot of weight. I ate everthing in site going from 6 feet 215 to 258 in that time span. As my weight balooned so did all my lifts, as of 1 month ago I stared to cut and count calories 2300 daily. It's worked great now down to 244 but all of my lifts are stalling big time. What do you guys do during a cut, change routine, change number of sets? thanks agin for the help on my way to being fit!!

I stay true. Whatever was giving me mass in a surplus will either continue to give me mass or fight wasting, either way you want the best program for muscle stimulation/development. To tell you the truth, besides burning calories, I've never understood why people change there routine while losing fat.

Yeah I agree, not much really changes for me. I just stick to lifting heavy, which is pretty much the same thing I do during a bulk.

Changing up your routine is important as your body begins to adapt, whether you are cutting, bulking or just maintaining your weight. The key now is forcing your body to do something different - whether it is more sets of fewer reps at heavier weights or many more reps at lighter weights. That is how you will continue to make progress.

The fact that you were newer to the program, combined with the significant weight gain, allowed to you "get away" without changing things up. But it's generally not a good idea to do the exact same lifting program for 7 months. Just doesn't maximize gains.

Good luck!

Thanks for the help, there seems to be 2 schools of thought here. I'm going with satying true to what works for me. I just set my weight progression back:( and am now working up from there. Do you guys stall during a cut or is it just me. Thanks agin

My lifts stall a bit but I'm not too worried about that so long as they don't start going down, if that happens I panic and start eating loads again :)
