I can't comment on AIPT, but AIF is notorious for pumping out incompetent trainers.
PT qualification courses tend to come in 3 forms:
- Cheap
- Fast
- Good
Almost every PT course is at least one of the above, some are two of the above, none are all of the above.
Most private colleges pump out PT's in about 3 months and cost $6,000. TAFEs normally take 1 year full-time and can cost as little as $1,400 to complete. I learned a few valuable things during my stay at TAFE, but if I were running a business, I wouldn't be quick to hire the version of Ryan that graduated in 2009; he had a lot to learn.
No matter where you get your qualifications, you're going to have to do further education to maintain your qualifications, and I'll recommend doing CEC courses that require a lot of work experience early on to help build up your competence.
