What is Strength training

I'm interested in getting stronger and developing my muscles by doing both cardio and weights.
But I'd like to know what is strength training as I heard this is the best way to lose fat.
 
picking up heavy stuff so your muscles grow and get stronger.

i.e. Training for Strength

Cardio doesn't do much to develop muscles...it trains them for endurance, but it has a very minimal impact on muscle growth and little effect on gaining strength.

strength training & cardio combined, are the best way to lose fat, build muscle and tone the body.
