What is rest?

I'm starting the new rules workouts and understand about not lifting more than 2 days in a row and not to do the same workout on consecutive days, and not to lift more than 4 days in a week, but how do other types of workouts figure in to that? For example, my plan is to lift Mondays-Wednesdays and sometimes fridays, but I also like to do a step class that runs on tuesdays and a pilates class on thursdays. I would rarely do all 5 days, but the question is if I lift monday and wednesday, is there any problem with doing the step on tuesday since it's not lifting. It does work the legs a good bit, but not the same as with lifting. I figure pilates on a day after lifting should be okay because that's primarily abs and back and doesn't break any muscles down.

I would do legs on friday if you're going to do a step class on tuesday, to keep your legs fresh. And if you do back &abs on monday you can do your pilates on wed after lifting.

My friend had the exact same problem.. lol kinda weird.

yeah, I guess I could do that. I just hate to put myself in the position of HAVING to work out on a Friday because that's usually my flexible day where I can take off if I feel like it.

There are a lot of cute women in step class.....

Think I just answered my own question. Did my first break-in routine yesterday which included squats and lunges and tried step today and my legs had nothing left. I'm sure it doesn't help that I haven't modified my 1500 calorie a day diet yet cuz i'm trying to lose another 10-15 lbs.
