What do you put on your Tuna?

i mix my tuna with tzatziki sauce. very good and healthier then mayo

What a good idea - will have to try that... I also liked Cj49's rec of yogurt with the mayo... I wonder how raita would pair with tuna... I've gotta find out lol

i mix my tuna with finely chopped onions, tomatoes, olives, cappers, and some times peppers(green etc...) with some olive oil

there is only two ways i eat tuna-i either mix it with italian dressing and chopped onion(delicious!!), or mixed with low fat mayo, celery and onion, on a whole wheat pita with lettuce and tomato. i love tuna.

I used to order from this great health food place in NY called The Pump- they mixed their tuna with hummus which is what I do now, and it's delicious! I recommend the Tribe brand. You can use classic, or if you want even more flavor Roasted Garlic, or Red Pepper Flake. I don't know if you have had hummus much before, but it's low in carbs and calories and high in protein. It is basically mashed chickpeas w/ tahini sauce. Try it, I think you'll really like it.

Tuna usually has the highest amounts levels of mercury in them, Compared to most other fish. Do they not?

Shark, swordfish, bottom feeders and other big predators have large amounts of mercury in them, and tuna is pretty bad, although I don't know if it's the worst.

I can't eat mayo so I've found some alternatives suggested by a bunch of people on a cooking forum.

Balsamic vinegar
Extra virgin olive oil (this is healthy olive oil)
Salad dressings
Lemon juice

I use olive oil and it definitely moistens the tuna.

I like to mix tuna and rice and in the past I would always add mayo or salad dressing. I can't eat it dry... I want to stop eating mayo for sure, and I am not a big fan of salad dressing anyway...

So what is a good, healthy alternative?

Thanks!

2 cans tuna (removed from water)
2 tbl spoons miracle whip
3 boiled eggs

this with a 8oz glass of milk, makes for a pretty high protein meal. id eat it everyday all day if i could!

Genius! I guess that'll be my dinner for tonight. :)

i don't like mayo, so i eat my tuna with fat free miracle whip. it adds a little zang and only has 15 calories per tablespoon. i love it!

I know u got like a billion answers but I don't think anyone said this... :)

-Get a can or two of your fav tuna (in water)
-Drain out that agua! And put the tuna in a microwaveable bowl
-take some Parm cheese (a good handful, unless u have tiny hands then two good handfuls) and put it on top of the tuna
-nuke it in the microwave (on high) for 45 seconds
-stir it up then nuke it for like 37 more seconds
-and wala! A ballin bowl of tuna :)

Oh and if your craze u can put some hot sauce or something in it...no mayo though. No matter what ppl say that crap ain't good for u...even the "healthy ones" it doesn't help out the muscle building process

I buy the low sodium albacore tuna, and mix it with low fat/low cal miracle whip or mayo. I'll take about 5 cans of it and mix it up in a bowl, and snack on tuna fish sandwiches between meals throughout the day. The bread I use it the Arnold Carb Counting Sugar-free Multi-Grain bread, which I can only find at one particular grocery store (Wegmans), and it costs almost $5 per loaf.

I keep a stack of BumbleBee Sensations Tuna Kits in my car at all times, so I can make sure I always snack healthy. They cost around $1.50 each.
I seldom eat the crackers that come with it. These tuna kits are the greatest things ever to make sure you eat healthy if and when you're on the go. I live in WNY state right now, and will soon be moving to Florida for a job, so I'll definitely be stocking up on these for the long road trip down there when the time comes!

The lemon pepper is the best and most nutritious out of all 3 flavors shown here...

I eat it out the can with just pepper or maybe a sprinkle of one of those herb seasoning blends
I hate mayo so I also hate it on my tuna

I love my tuna with my salad, with some red onion, parsley, almond, avocado, cucumber and some olive oil with a dash of balsamic vinigar. Vinegar dressing is beautiful and is 100% low fat! YUMMY !
