What can be used in placed of......?

Guys,

What other exercises can be used in place of the below exercises. Im mainly interested in using free weights like dumbbells etc etc and anything available in the home.

Pullups
Lat pulls
Machine shrug - (Dumbbell/barbell etc etc can be used, but can anything else?)

These are obviously focusing on the back.

Regards,

Steve.

Indicating towards the half paragraph in the middle of the page that shows the exercies, hence "the below exercises"

:)

LOL - Its getting late here, I mis-read that pretty bad.

There are no exercises you can do with weights to work the lats, You need a bar do to chins and pull ups.

shrugs you can do with anything. I prefer to use a barbell as I combine shrugs with deadlifts, rather than treating it as a seperate exercise.

hahah thats alright dude!

Yeah i knew about shrugs but i guess my main question is, what can replace lat pulls and pullups.

Nothing. The only way of working your lats is pulling vertically from above, so the only other way would be to hang upside down and lift dumbbells!

Pull overs do work the lats, but they are no substitute.

Russ...you know better than that. The lats get worked in many horizontal pulling movements-Pendlay rows, db rows, bb rows, etc... Remember that essentially verticle and horizontal pulling utilize the same muscle groups and is the same movement (just on different planes of motion).

Wesky, just buy a chin up bar. Or go do them from a tree or your porch cover.

keep in mind that chin ups/pull ups, and lat pulldown works the same muscles. You don't need lat pull down because you have chin ups/pull ups.

I didn't think it was worth mentioning as people may start to think that you can replace pullups with bent rows.

Lat pulls

Nothing. While you can do lat pulls in place of pull-ups for a bit and vice versa, there is no substitute if you remove both.
