Hey everyone! I'm Summer, 16 years old. I think I weight between 160-175? I never really weighed myself, because when I look at a scale I always feel discouraged. I'm new to these forums and I was really inspired after reading them. Anyways I have a huge goal for the Summer Break. My goal is to lose 33-40 pounds over the summer break( about 3 months) And it seems that actually putting it in writing gives people more motivation.I think I've lost like...2 pounds but I just started this week...
I'm a size 13 in jeans.
My goal is to get down to a size 7
My desired weight is 125-130
if you have any advise it'd be appreciated!
:seeya:
I'll post pics later...i don't really have tons of pics because I always delete them after I take them..(photos are way to big sorry)

You can do it. Just read around the forum and learn as much as you can. You already look good and you'll look/feel great by next school year :)

Good luck, you can do it!

I would highly recommend you weigh yourself so you know where you started. If it bothers you too much, have someone you can trust, like your mom, dad or grandma look at the weight and write it down on a piece of paper. Have them fold it up and then go lock it somewhere in your room where no one can get to it but you. Make sure they understand you want them to be honest about the weight and not to try to help you any. Then work your butt off all summer and at the end of summer have them do the same thing. If it still bothers you, just give them the two pieces of paper and tell them to tell you how much weight you lost. Or you can ditch the whole weight idea and just use tape measurements on your problem areas.

Either way, try to take some good before and after photos so you can clearly see the difference. A lot of times your eyes need to convince your brain that you did in fact do a good job. ;)

Thanks for the support!
I haven't lost much weight yet..(only been a week right?)
I'll post a new pic of my progress in the middle of August!

:blush5:

hi, I'm around your age and have sort of the same goals... I was 151 today, and want to be around 120, 125. But when I started I was close to 160.

I would say, weight yourself. Yes, you may feel bad if it is a high number, but you can't start until you know what you're dealing with. You'll need to be prepared for how many pounds you'll want to lose... at first the number might be shocking, and bring you to tears, (but it might not.) but you still need to know.

Last summer in '08, I tried to lose like 20 pounds ( I was 140) but it didn't work. This is what I did wrong:
I did not have enough self discipline. I would do well, and take a bike ride or walk or something, and then at the end of the day I'd eat cake or ice cream or something. Or have like 2 dinners or something. I would always say "I'll start on Monday", and if that week after I started I did something just a little wrong, I'd say "I'll start next Monday" just because I didn't do perfectly.
I'd say keep a journal, and read it every morning to REMIND yourself of what you want. Write like why you want to lose weight and stuff or whatever, and your goals. Maybe a calender too of where you want to be by each week, or whatever you want. Otherwise it's wicked easy to lose motivation.
Also, take the right steps, calculate your BMI and BMR and stuff, and know all about how many calories you should be eating and stuff.
You need to know all this stuff... an enemy is much harder to fight when you don't know it.

Here are some links that help me.

(With Tae Bo Cardio, you can burn like... 600-800 calories they say)

When you're bored its fun to go here. And like exercise.

Oh, and also it helps me to remember that once you do something, it's easier to do it again the next time. Like if you procrastinate, it'll be easier to do that the next time. If you exercise once, it just gets easier and easier - they're all habits that you can make or break.

Anyway, I hope you reach your goals '-'
