weigh-in tomorrow. Excited, I do feel as if I have lost a tiny bit atleast! I HOPE. Ive been feeling so tired recently and I think its down to changing my diet. Sometimes my eyes really hurt if I look up or down? does anyone else have this same problem?

Motivation is needed!!

Getting better. Have you tried fruit for a sugar rush? An apple is great for that. There's a lot of fruit in season at the moment (and apples, while not in season, are still in very good condition and not too expensive) You're doing well on the protein. Same thing as usual though- try and get more fruit and veg in (and more variety if possible- bananas provide certain nutrients, other fruits and veg provide different ones)

Nope I havnt.
Im really enjoying bananas at the moment, they are so yummy!
Will be getting some apples and more bananas tomorrow!! :D.
I know I need to eat more veg, I will in time. Trust me.
I know I need to but I really dislike the ones im aware of!!
x

It's good you're enjoying bananas, I'm really pleased :) But variety is important- I could see you getting (say) a banana, an apple, and a plum in for the same calories as two bananas- you'll get more diverse vitamins and be better off.

I know I've told you before, I'm just making sure you don't forget :) The sooner you can find a way to eat vegetables the better. I'll keep at you until you're having 5 (fruit and/ or vegetables) a day. It's for your own good.

I might just eat 5 fruit :).
I really cant hack veg!

No, no, no. You can't do that. In fact, the NHS guidelines are very lax compared to other standards around the world. In Australia they say you need to eat 5 vegetables and 2 serves of fruit a day. There's a reason for it- vegetables are more important nutritionally than fruit.

Weigh-in!

So after a week of changing my diet completely from Junk food and binging on fatty foods, I have lost 3.2 pounds!!

Im really happy with this result. I mean I would of been happier with 4 pounds! but I suppose its better than gaining!! To be honest, at the end of this week I was losing motivation but now ive seen this result im ready to go for the next week ATLEAST! :D

It was a big step for me last night, the whole family ordered a takeaway! I was so tempted to get one, but I didnt :).

Hows everyone getting on?

x

As I drink a lot of water anyway, around 2-3 litres a day. I think I should lower my calories to ensure weightloss next week. Im thinking around 1200-1500? Do you think this will be fine? or should I eat more! :(.

I use a site called myfitnesspal. You can put your info in and it will calculate the safe amount of calories you should take in. They also have an app for android and iPhone. I use the android app everyday. They have a huge database of searchable foods, plus a feature that lets you scan barcodes with your phone. I'm a total geek, so I love it. It has helped me lose 10lbs in two weeks, and it's free.

Thank you and no problem!
A couple of tips...
Weigh yourself after you wake up. Later in your day, you'll have more water weight.
You will stay the same or gain if you don't eat enough calories! I kept undereating...not meaning to...and I gained a pound. I fixed it and ate right around what I should, and lost 2 lbs! When you don't eat enough, your body thinks it's starving. It will latch onto any food you eat, and store it as fat. It will also nomnom your muscles.
Just eat a ton of good stuff, but low calorie.
If you don't like veggies, you could always try v8 splash. Tastes like fruit juice, but has the nutrients of veggies!

Eric, keep in mind that you're a teenager and thus you shouldn't eat under 1800 calories a day. It'll make your weight loss slower, but a) you're already at a healthy BMI, and b) you don't want to risk your development. I'll harp on this until the cows come home- your health depends on you having enough calories (and nutrients!) to develop your body properly (development ends at somewhere between 23 and 25), and you being thin now is not worth potential health consequences for the rest of your life. Be very careful. I'd strongly urge you not to eat as few as 1500 calories, let alone less. This website actually recommends you eat nearly 3000 calories a day: The NHS also stresses that when you're growing, you need to eat more: Hence my recommendation that you don't go under 1800 calories.

You need to make your changes sustainable if you want to keep the weight off. If you "go on a diet", eat well/ less calories, sure, you'll lose the weight, but if you then "go back to normal" and eat more calories than you need- you'll put the weight back on. This is particularly important as a) your metabolism is probably about as fast as it will ever be in your life, so this is the easiest time in your life to lose weight and stay thin (as you get older weight loss and preventing weight gain becomes harder as your body slows down- and when I say "older", I don't mean some time in the long distant future when you turn into your parents, I mean in the next 5-10 years), and b) you're aiming for the lower end of your healthy BMI, which may not be sustainable unless you "diet" long term.

Yeah, maybe I wont cut down too many as Ive been eating around 1900 all week and I still lost 3.2 pounds!
If you quit smoking will you put on weight?
xo

Cigarettes are poison. Weight loss is irrelevant to that issue, quit before you do yourself irreversible damage, if you haven't already. It's another issue of "rest of life" versus "weight right now".

Day eight

Breakfast
30g trim flakes, 125ml semi skimmed milk - 161 Calories
Dinner
Cheese omlette - 3 Eggs - 198 Calories, 50g cheese - 189 Calories, 2 Tbls of oil - 182 Calories
Tea
2x wholemeal bread - 230 Calories, Half tin of beans - 201 Calories
Snacks
3 x apples - 150 Calories
1/2 of a plum - ? (I didnt like it, but i thought id try something new!)
Banana - 120 Calories

2 Litres + Water

Total - 1431 Calories (Not inlcuding half of plum!)

Today was a good day!

I smoke as well--Have heard horror stories about putting on weight. I love smoking and don't want to quit anytime soon so figure I'll tackle one vice at a time! You're very young though (I started at 12) so you should quit before you get hooked. It's very hard to stop.

Good on you for trying something new :) Shame you didn't like it (I love plums, me, but then I love most things). Have you tried kiwi fruit? (without the skin- I like the skin but can understand most people don't, it's a strange texture)

Good on the fruit (you probably got your five a day there- 3 apples, a banana, depends on how much beans), but I'll remind you that veggies are more important nutritionally.

Try to get those calories back up- you're growing, you need more than you will do when your development stops.
