Weight vests

Hey,
I was wondering if someone could give me some general information on weight vests. I'm not to sure of the exact benefits, a good weight to start, and how long to wear when doing so since I have heard wearing one too long can do more harm than good. Any advice appreciated, thanks.

I bought one and found a perfect use. I told my wife it was a new life jacket for her and brought her waterskiing.

Been nice and quiet around the house lately. ;)

I've heard hundreds of accounts (not literally, but close) of people getting hurt in weight vests.

When you think about what a weight vest does, any additional gains you'd be getting from it are pretty insignificant.

That said, if you're into the whole high risk/low reward type of stuff, buy one and keep it as light as possible for 3 weeks or so before adding a couple pounds, then another 3 weeks, then a couple pounds, so on so forth.

Good luck with whatever you do.

weighted vests should be used to add weight to bodyweight exercises such as pullups and pushups. It can also be used in sprinting exercises, but there on needs to be careful not overdoing it due to the risk of injury.

Don't walk around in weighted vests all day thinking that you will get bigger and stronger, the body can not adapt to a new weight that fast, remember that real life weight gain happenes gradually, over time. Don't expect your body to be able to cope with suddenly adding 5 lbs and having to walk around with it all day.

just my 2 cents.

I wish I had a weight vest. I have to put plates in my backpack and thats how i do weighted dips/chins/pull ups.
