Weight LOss with Homer

Booo for fast foood! THUMBS DOWN.

Ack! I know! I`ve gotten over a lot of stuff mainly because it`s like.. wtf do they put in there? But once in a while I sooo wanna teen burger from A&W or something.

I think what I should do, is overhaul my fridge and cabinets and get all new kinds of food in there. I wish we had more good markets around where I could pick up better greens. I also need to load of on recipes..

Know any good sites ?

I haven't had fast food in years and years. Home food is muuuuuuch better. :drooling:

Years ? Really? That`s incredible.

Also, "chi" that you put into your own food matters on the effect it has on your body. For example, a lovingly cooked meal by yo momma is going to affect you differently than a meal scraped together by an indifferent, depressed, underpaid worker....haven't you ever seen or read Like Water for Chocolate?

I haven`t even HEARD of that!
Thank you so much for the site, I`m going to spend a little time checking `er out right now.

I competely get how putting chi into my food would make that big positive difference. I`ve got a lot of bad eating habits I really need to turn around. So here`s one big step:

NO MORE FAST FOOD. No no no no no no more.
That`s right, I`m going on a fast from fast food. Okay I just wanted to say that, but I`m really going to CUT-IT-OUT. So I need something to replace those on-the-go snacks.

Like a bigger purse so I could put some fiber cereal or fruit or.. wow on the go snacks... that`s a doozie. Well, nothing but time to figure it out.

p.s. I`m about to do some major exercise (har har) - CLEANING MA HOUSE !! :D I dance/clean.. anyone else? haha.

Yup, years. And fast food will never ever be apart of my diet in the future either :). Its horribly bad.

And Curvie is right again! Connecting with your food is very important :).

I'm doing the same thing...although I'm not telling myself never to anything cuz that's when problems start but honestly other than taco bell I don't see me missing the burger joints because we've lived on it for so many years. It's the convenience part thats always hooked me...but I just have to tell myself it's not convenient when my butt is too big for my clothes or I'm tired all the time from eating it.

But anyway yea homemade burgers are SOOO good and so are homemade fries. Still fattening for sure but at least you know whats in 'em lol.

Burgers..

Well ofcourse by 'never' I mean avoid it as much as possible. I don't get myself tooo down if two weeks from now I break down and have a taco bell (I find you can substitute senokot with it haha), I'll probably deserve a little treat by then. What I find funny is when I get dieting/running and then I DO go to the fast food joint, I can barely get through half of my meal! Just shows how much I stuff myself!

How true. I also think it's all in my head. Like, I mean.. it takes four minutes to wolf down a burger (something you've been craving forEVER) and then you're done and it doesn't feel that good anymore. And then you're bloated for the night and your bf won't let you sleep in bed because your farts smell like evil.

I'm bbq'in right away :D

My hubby can't say NOTHING if I ever have gas. His is frequent and so bad it can peel wallpaper so he deserves any paybacks he gets, lol. Especially since he's thought dutch ovens are hilarious in the past. Yea...he's so funny, lol.

I have conditioned myself to see a fast food sign and not even associate it with the concept of "food." Pavlov's dogs, baby--it IS all in your head :D

Make your own burger. Use organic baby greens and avocado, or fancy special cheese and not that fake Kraft shit. Find a veggie you truly enjoy and slap it on there. Try a salmon burger! Cooking takes time, but the very act of taking care and loving yourself enough to nourish yourself properly is like a medicine. You'll feel better about yourself if you make your own, in addition to your body being happier it got more nutritious food. Avoid the fried shit, it tastes great, but it's even worse than you may think (trust me I studied the raw food theory and tried it for a few months!).

Try eating nuts for snacks--the high protein will satiate you more than cereal. Or ahi jerky if you like/can afford it :D

OMFG :rotflmao: AWESOMELY HILARIOUS!!!

Hah.. dutch ovens. Niiiice :D

I'm NOT running today. Sore from the three-in-a-row days of cardio (ooo that rhymes). I'll still do my weights which I honestly find ridiculously boring. I'll also be working at the bar tonight/tomorrow so I have to pack something to eat. Bar food is naaaaasty.. diet or no diet.

Now for low-cal drinking.. fuck it, I'll just have a beer - one can't hurt!
I never realized how much this job will work in my favor because it makes you SWEAT in that place. You're back and forth, carrying heavy things and pushing drunk people around. It's gets delightfully sweating by 2am, haha.

Although I won't be working there anymore. I'm starting with the government (hopefully) in a couple of weeks. Hopefuullly.

p.s. I made my secret homemade burgers last night and as usual they ROCKED! Not even close to being low-cal but I did throw some sprouts on it and had an awesome spinach salad on the side. Er, I still haven't started on my iron pills speaking of spinach, and I hate 'em! So freakin' BIG! **removed innapropriate sexual comment**

Har har. Looking forward to a goood day ~Cheers :cheers2:

I love me some burgers. I'm not giving them up either. Why should I? Its what people do them that ruin them. Find a good beef supply. Organic if possible, straight from a local guy, even better. Measure your beef. 4 oz is plenty. Use real cheese as the curvie one proposed. Here is what I like

4 oz good beef. Sirloin in the food processor works. You can trim all the fat off that way.

Lil blue cheese

grilled onions

Bun. This is about the only time that I eat enriched bread but its just good on a burger

Sweet potato oven fries

Whalla! Nice healthy meal for about 450-500 calories. eat a light lunch and have a beer with it.

Hey I somehow didn't see this when I was reading your diary...I do that sometimes when I'm tired, lol. But I just wanted to say that I did that and it worked out great. I cleaned out all my old spices too and then as I tried new recipes stocked up on baking supplies and now have a pretty healthy kitchen. As for recipes there's TONS of sites online...do you have anything specific dietary wise you're trying to watch?

Oh and I saw your comment about the iron...I took mine the other day and felt better. Then I didn't take them yesterday and today I've felt exhausted, lol. Coincidence? Maybe. Who knows. But I got out my pill thing finally (how many days did it take me?) and finally filled it up with all the things I'm SUPPOSED to be taking including vit. C and B complex because the dr. said my immune system is down after having an ear infection. Better late than never I suppose, lol.

So what kind of new job did you get with the government? Or if you tell me will you have to kill me? :smilielol5:

It's Saturday !

Yep :D You're all in trouble :smash:

I'll just be an entry level clerk at Canada Place downtown.. nawwthing special.

Just dropping by very quickly this morning to say I'm so EXHAUSTED from work last night didn't get home until 4am. :svengo: I drank two beers and had some salmon for supper although I did sneak a fry or two in from the kitchen.. meh.

No running today, I'm too pooped and have to work again tonight.
Seeee ya :seeya:

So HungOVER.. dum dum.

Famous Last Words. LOL

I knew you'd be right :p
So it ended up being a bartender's birthday and I was bad :reddevil: but even though I ended up completely sloshed I didn't eat the mcdonald's everyone picked up on the way home. At least I had an awesome time, the music at my bar is awesome - it's a duelling piano bar and that sounds lame but look at this video -->

Today I'm feeling --> :ack2:
No run, which makes THREE DAYS OF NO RUNNING ! Crap ! I've got to get back on schedule tomorrow and maybe next weekend take it a little more seriously because it totally screws up your energy. I'm so exhausted and am just going to hang on this couch and drink water water water.. and more water.

Upside is I have no appetite.
Downside.. I feel like a bag of poo. And I think I was singing last night..

And I think I was singing last night..

LMAO!!

And hey stop beatin yourself up! You're allowed to have a life and sounds like you had a blast :) It's all about "lifestyle change" and not a diet thing. Yea we're supposed to stick with it most of the time but when you have a chance to have fun like you did the other night then enjoy it. It's not like you do that every night and life is about making good memories :) And how often do you get a chance to wonder if you sang at a piano bar? lol. I am sorry you're feelin the after effects though, hope you're able to shake that off soon. But hey a day on the couch sounds good to me...gonna watch any good movies?
