Weight loss troubles

Hi Everyone!!
I have been on this thread for almost 2 years and I used to live by it. Lately, I haven't been exercising as much because I have a herniated disk and sciatica. I go in for surgery next week.

In total i've lost about 70-80 pounds but since january, i'm gaining because I can't work out due to the sciatica and herniated disk. I expect a full recovery in 6 weeks. I just want to be able to run on the threadmill again.

I would like to know has anyone experienced any problems like this. What should I do in the meantime? I really hope i'm able to get back into working out physically after surgery. I believe excessive weight lifting on my legs causes some of the problems but i'm not sure...

Comments are welcome for getting through this time.

Sorry to hear about the 6week down time, however amazing work on losing 70-80 pounds!

As for an idea of what to do in those 6 weeks, try do a bit of reading into some health books, and food books. Even though you're down for the 6 weeks you could really benefit in focusing more on nutrition (don't really want to use the word 'diet' it just doesn't seem that the way to me.)

Anyway hope you make a speedy recovery!

AI got fibromalgia, hypertension, and sleep apnea. Also am on 6 different meds for them. So I can relate alot. I just try to really watch what I eat. I walk a mile a day. Still, I've gained a couple. But I was able to minimize it by a 3-5 lb gain over 2 months. So just don't over do it. Try to realize if you screw up part of the day with your diet, the rest isn't blown . Best, kevin

Excessive weightlifting, leg workouts? I feel with you. Maybe I am off a little bit since I don't know your case but I have seen similar things before. My advise for what it's worth is to change the workout. Keep on doing Bi and Triceps. Sitting calves. Basically everything that involves only one muscle. You will see that your motivation stays up and you will keep on sweating. Good luck!
