Weight Loss Results from JoveGirl!

In November I joined this Forum frustrated and on the verge of giving up hope on my weight-loss.
This was my original post....

A Diet Plan that works for rapid weight loss, and muscle growth?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am very frustrated. I am 21 years old and am in a bind. I gained 70 pounds during my pregnancy with my first child (currently 5'9-200 pounds)and the weight loss has been excruciating! Around December 2006, I was down to a very reasonable 160 lbs. I was very excited but the way I lost all the weight was through the diet pill 'Venom' and excessive cardio. As soon as I stopped taking the supplement the weight started to come back on. This time I want to do it in a way where I can lose the weight and keep it off. I have been lifting weights and hitting the cardio at my local gym at least four times a week and I don't see anything drastic yet. My husband is a power-lifter and I realize when I eat what he eats. I gain weight! Help!
What kind of foods should I be eating and how many times a day! Are carbs the enemy- is high protein the answer? There are so many diet plans I am confused.
I want to lose fat rapidly but I want it to be replaced with lean muscle.

Any suggestions? THANKs A BUNCH!

-Jove

After struggling with diet and exercise for a few more months- then ballooning to 210 lbs.; I finally reached my point of no return in January 2008- since losing weight was my biggest New Year’s Resolution...
My Journey started slowly...excruciatingly so at some points but I am ecstatic to report that the “Before &After Story” I had sought after is now a reality.
-I have lost 55 lbs! And am currently at 155 lbs!
Life has really changed for me; and I am not just talking exterior, my fitness went from breathing heavy going up stairs…to running 5 miles three times a week!
I attend Pilates regularly, and I am firmer than before my Pregnancy! I’ve got my body back and then some.
I never thought it was possible to this magnitude but I figured I would die trying, if that’s what I had to do to reach my goal!! Lol…I know drama queen!
I am thankful to all the motivation this Forum provided…it really encouraged me knowing there were people that were willing to lend an ear and good advice to a woman who needed it! And I am not done with my goals yet…!
So with no further adieu, I will post some pictures…..

I can't wait either ;)

seriously though, well done, keep at it, and when you feel good about where you end up, maintain it. don't slip back to the old habits that lead to the weight problem originally :)

Exercise...

is very addicting, and I am very addicted to it! I love it! My new found joys are being outside and enjoying the day with bike-riding, jogging, anything that keeps my heart rate up! I have a new passion for life. This girl is not going backwards!:p You'll see...;)

That's really great progress...I'm very happy for you. I also agree, it becomes addicting and a way of life.

Tell me something, when you see someone else who is over-weight (35+ pounds or more) and they're eating away, how does that make you feel? Do you feel sorry for them or do you hold despise because they aren't doing anything to help themselves?

Of all the best things you've ever done in your life, would you rate your weight-loss and fitness kick among the top 5?

Hmm good questions...

When I see people that are overweight and are 'unhappy' with it (I do know some women that love being plus size) my heart goes out to them. I know what it's like to be in that place, If I am able to talk to them I love to share with them where I have come from and that it IS possible to change where they are. I've had some people accuse me of lying.
Especially when I see them at the gym~ I am the first one to come up and motivate them, and cheer them on!
The only time I am stern (I would say stern but it's just honest) is when I talk to a family member or close friend and they offer excuse after excuse on why they can't run or walk, or eat well....
I had that happen with my sister. She tried to blame our genes! (We have the same genes!) Hypertension..blah,blah. I finally just shook my head and told her...
"You are right. You will never lose weight but only because you don't want it bad enough. When you do; I will be here to help you. Untill them stop telling me how miserable you are."
The next day she came with me to Pilates.. ..lol....
And losing weight is definately on my top 5 of 'best things I have done for myself' but my Top 3- had to be running 5 miles straight and not being on the verge of death afterwards! I saw that as such a mountain, and to be on top of that mountain was liberating!

congrats on your weight loss!! and being able to run 5 miles is also a great accomplishment!!
