Weight loss help

I have recently joined the gym and will be starting on May 1st 2009.

I have not gotten myself a trainner but i can use any machine provided in the gym.

My question was, How do I lose my weight? I have already started a diet, but i have man boobs and a pretty big stomach and i need excercise that will get rid of it.

Can someone give me a workout i could do in the gym to get rid of my fat and man boobs? Please and thank you

My breakfast - I eat ceral

Lunch - I'm a vegitarian (also indian) so i eat 2 rotis (if you know what that is) and a bowl of fruit

Dinner - 2 Rotis again and a bowl of fruit or salad.

Is it bread?

I think you should first start on your diet. You're going to need the energy if you are going to start a good fitness program.

I don't see any protein in your diet. What can you add to your diet that will provide you with protein at every meal? To keep your resting metabolism up you should be eating 5-6 small meals a day consisting of (protein, carb and fat) at every meal.

PROTEIN IN LEGUMES: Garbanzo beans, Kidney beans, Lentils, Lima beans, Navy beans, Soybeans, Split peas

PROTEIN IN GRAINS: Barley, Brown rice, Buckwheat, Millet, Oatmeal, Rye, Wheat germ, Wheat, hard red, Wild rice

VEGETABLE PROTEIN: Artichokes, Beets, Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Green peas, Green pepper, Kale, Lettuce, Mushrooms, Mustard green, Onions, Potatoes, Spinach, Tomatoes, Turnip greens, Watercress, Yams, Zucchini

PROTEIN IN FRUITS: Apple, Banana, Cantaloupe, Grape, Grapefruit, Honeydew melon, Orange, Papaya, Peach, Pear, Pineapple, Strawberry, Tangerine, Watermelon

I would suggest that when you get to the gym you should do 30 minutes of aerobic exercise a day to start out. It can be 15 min of eliptical/15 min of running, 30 min of running, 30 min of biking whatever just mix it up each day. Take a day off for recovery. But you still need to work on your diet. Then worry about resistance training.

Thanks for the great response, but my question is...will i lose weight by doing cardio excersises?

The machines im thinking of using are: Treadmill, Bike, Climbing stairs, and
a few more cardio workout machines.

Will i lose weight this way? by using only cardio machines and doing dumbbell excersises and pushups/situps at home as well as the diet? please respond, i'm learning so much from just one person.

If you burn more calories with exercise than you take in from food, well yeah you'll be on a caloric deficit. Without going into too much detail... and keeping it simple:

1. 30 minutes of cardio 5-6 days a week.

2. Try to eat 6 small meals a day consisting of a carb, protein and fat at each and every meal. Try to eat as much natural whole foods as possible. (not processed)

3. Eventually incorporate resistance training (full body workouts) into your routine maybe 3 days out of the week which will increase metobolic efficiency.

So try this plan and let us know how you are doing after a couple weeks.

Thank you so much for your answer, but i think i will be in the gym for more then 30 minutes, so i will be doing cardio (and praying) this workout will change my lifestyle! Oh and one more question, i was also told i should do weight lifting one day and cardio the next, is this true? will i lose weight faster this way?

You are quite welcome I'm happy to help. Shoot for something like this:

Day 1- Full body workout followed by 20-30 min cardio
Day 2- 30 min cardio
Day 3- Fully body workout followed by 20-30 min cardio
Day 4- 30 min cardio
Day 5- Full bodyworkout, 20-30 min cardio
Day 6- cardio or take off
Day 7- off

Take a look at this guy's success story. It's pretty impressive. I'd follow some of his programs.
