Weight Loss/Get Fit Journal

Hi,

I'm new here and I've joined up for quite a selfish reason if I'm honest.

I wanted to find somewhere were I could keep track of my weight loss and effort I put into it, I tried it a few months ago with a private journal and I fell off quite quickly. I'm hoping with renewed determination and a public journal I will feel more inclined to carry on and get myself into better shape, I hope that because others can see my progress that I will feel guiltier if I stray off path and that overall it allow me to do a much better job of it.

So I better start this thing off with a quick description of myself. I'm 17 and 5'11, I weigh around 14 stone (90KG) which gives me a BMI of 27.3. I play a lot of sport including Rugby Cricket Hockey and Squash as well as a bit of Basketball and Tennis. However no matter how much sport I seem to play I haven't managed to shed my belly (which is where most of my weight seems to be!).

So if decided to start to eat much healthier. I will stop having the usual rubbish at school and will now only have Salad and cold meat from the salad bar along with fruit for desert. At home I have good all round healthy meals anyway but I will strive to ensure I don't snack on tit bits throughout the night. I will cut down on the amount of fizzy drinks I have a week, just generally keep myself on a tighter leash with regards to the food I eat.

In terms of exercise I reckon I need to do much more Cardio-vascular work, so I have pulled out my Dad's old exercise bike and have placed it in my room. I plan to ride it for 30 minutes every two days with Sunday and Saturday off ( I play a rugby/cricket match on a Saturday most weeks). However I understand that the body needs to do activities, so I'll be using the Running machine once a week and the rowing machines on the occasional
Saturday morning.

I will also be trying to build some muscle to replace the fat so i'll be going to the gym once a week at least, and doing stomach and back exercises most nights.

This may seem like a lot but it isn't that much IMO, I just hope that it works! I don't have any scales at home but I go to my Grandma's every Sunday and she does so I can weight myself there.

Current stats:

Weight: 90KG (approx)
BMI: 27.3 (approx)

It is a good start beginning a journal here :)

if ya can drop the fizzy drinks all together it would be better. try to sit down and work out how many calories you are eating at the moment and reduce your intake from there to start fighting the fat.

You should be working on your weight training more than just once a week and not just back and abs, if you can try for a full body workout 3 days per week but 2 days would prob be ok with your sports training.

what rugby position do you play ? i am a prop.
