Weight Loss for the Redneck Charger..

Spinach soup and salmon sandwiches? Sounds pretty good to me :D

Water + pretzels = full and not too bad, so it sounds like you are doing something right! Keep it up!

Hmmm....veggie smoothies...that's kinda different, but I'm sure its great for you...I might have to try that!

Good job with your food journal, seems like your eating all the right foods...wish I was losing 5 pounds in a week... :) Keep it up!!

This is me, sending positive thoughts to you and your mother. Stay strong, man.

Hello Everyone..
So much has happened since I logged in last.. Had to take some time for Mom and her ALS.. and then last Wednesday morning.. I ended up rushed into the hospital by ambulance with a 105.9 fever..and hulisnating..(sp) and 65% oxegen in my blood.. Was in very bad shape.. Spent 5 days in the hospital.. 3 days in intensive care.. Turned out had a small virus..and stress got me.. Feeling better.. Getting a little better each and everyday.. Hoping to start at the gym again next Monday.. Lost quite a bit of weight.. But not the way i wanted too..

So back to my Smoothies.. and trying to take care of myself again.. Will keep everyone in touch..

Good Morning all..
back to try and succeed at this, this time.. looking and taking life at a different way this time.. Yes I want to loose the weight..and yes I want to get in shape.. But I don't have to do it like yesterday.. I still have usual everyday probs like Mom and ALS.. and am dealing with that.. but gotta let some of the stress go.. that almost killed me a week ago..

So this morning I got up.. Had a cup of coffee.. and a bowl of hot poridge with some raisons.. Going to go for a walk in a bit..and get my day started.. I will see you all in a few hours and tell you about lunch and dinner.. Hope you all have a GREAT day...

Kinda spurdged..

Hi all.. Hope you are all having a GREAT friday afternoon.. Kinda splurged this afternoon for luch.. Not real proud of myself.. but went to a all you can eat chinese buffett.. Didn't make a real big pig of myself.. and tried to eat the better things like.. salads.. and veggy's.. without all the sugar.. and msg.. Anyways.. catch ya's at dinner time..

I'm glad you're back and feeling better; I always wonder when people just disappear like that. It sounds like you had a mighty close call on things, but I'm glad you came through it all.
As long as you mostly avoid the deep-fried foods at a chinese buffet, you are going to be eating relatively healthy foods. It sounds like you applied some good sense and stuck with the healthier dishes, so that is a good thing.

Are you finding your appetite has changed with the hospital visit?
Did they say anything about your new way of eating?

Hey Qjay.. How ya do'in.. Hospital liked the way I've changed my way of eating.. may have done it too quick.. But that's not what caused my problem.. Mainly stress.. and got some kind of virus.. Still not feeling 100 percent yet.. Just came back to work yesterday.. and still heaving breathing everytime I exert myself.. Have to watch the oxygen in blood..

Anyways for supper tonight.. I had 4 glasses of water.. vegetarian lasaunna (sp) and a fat free yogourt.. Everyone have a great night..and catch up to ya's tomorrow.. Overtime tomorrow..

I'm glad they decided your diet wasn't the source of your problem. I have made myself pretty sick through poor nutrition before. I lost a lot of weight, but basically killed my immune system by not eating properly. It's back, no long term damage to it, but I ended up in the hospital from cellulitis of all freakin' things. I have a pretty bad scar from it, a lot of folks see it and think I have been shot.

Are you on any kind of oxygen, or do you have some for emergencies? Lung problems are no laughing matter.

I am on medications for the lungs.. but have to learn or teach myself when I am low in oxygen in the blood.. (breathing heavy after excertion is one way) but not always the culprit..

Anyways up early..and at work already.. started my day with a bowl of my hot oatmeal.. with a 1/2 cup of raisons..and a toasted raison and cinnamon bagel..and a eight ounce glass of a fruit smoothie.. and enjoying a Tim Horton's coffee right now.. Have a great day.. Not as cold out today..

G'day Everyone..
Well first day back to the gym since my hospital visit.. Did 20 minutes of walk on the tread machine.. and then did a medium workout with weights.. My weigh has dropped quite a bit.. Not the way I wanted to loose weight.. But now down to 225.. Today for breakfast.. Had my cup of Tim Horton's.. and a bowl of hot cereal.. with some rasions..and a blueberry fat free yogourt.. Then went to the gym.. for lunch I had.. a bowl of tomato soup..and a grilled cheese sandwich.. and supper in a few hours.. which I will write back about.. Hope everyone is having a GREAT day..

Hi All.. Well another day almost over.. For supper I had a bowl of chilli.. a veggy smoothie.. with dandelions.. kale.. celery.. beets.. carrots.. turnip.. some flax seed.. and a bananna..apple.. and a orange.. and 2 fat free yogourts..

lol, I wonder what the nutritional information is for dandelions. :D

It sounds like you're eating relatively well, but just remember to pay attention to how you feel, too. Did you talk to the doctor about your exercise and how your lungs will affect it?

Hey Bud..
Actually saw the doctor today.. told me to slide back into the excercisng slowly.. so instead of everyday as I was.. maybe every second day for a couple of weeks.. Breathing not to good today.. dunno if it's stress today.. or weather.. breathing kinda tight..and feel like a weight on chest.. Very weird feeling..

Anyways for meals today.. didn't eat alot today.. breakfast consisted of 12 grain toast.. with a coffee..and a yogourt..and a bananna.. for lunch I had a bowl of homemade soup.. and a cornbeef sandwich.. and for supper.. had some roasted Pork..and mashed potatoes.. and a blueberry yogourt.. and 2 bottles of water..

Looking forward to the day ending soon.. a couple more hours at work here.. 45 minute drive home..and bed.. Chat with ya's tomorrow..

I can't say whether it is the case for you, but I know with me, and a lot of my friends, whenever I eat or drink dairy products (specifically yogurt, soft cheeses, and milk, even if used in cooking) I get a lot of phlegm building up in my lungs and it gets hard to breathe.
I notice it especially since I have massive allergies (I'm allergic to pine trees, in OREGON), but you may want to pay attention to it for a few days and see if your lungs get tight after a serving of dairy, then clear up after a few hours. If you notice something, ask your doctor about it.

Had a cup of coffeee.. and then made myself some pancakes with flax seed in it..and some ground cinnomon..with some raisons.. That was my breakfast.. After that I headed to the gym.. but still not feeling that great.. so floated around in pool for a bit.. sat in hot tub for 15 mins.. and then the sauna for 5.. came home.. ended up having a nap for 2 hours.. and then left for work.. Raced around work abit tonight.. trying to get the cardio going abit.. For supper I had a chicken wrap..and a ceaser salad.. 4 bottle of water..and a yogourt..

Qjay.. have been alergic to eggs all my life..and some dairy products bother me.. Had a yogourt lastnight.. have had the tightness in my chest since my hospital visit.. Kinda starting to scare me.. going to make another appointment with doctor.. Every now and then I get hot flashes also..along with rosey cheeks.. Never ever got that before.. Will keep ya in toch with what's going on though.. Have a GREAT day Bud.. talk to ya soon..

Good Morning All..
Well for breakfast today I had a cup of Decaf coffee.. A Veggy smoothie (kale, carrots, dandelion, parsley, celery, cucumber, a few blueberries, and a avacado.. and a tablespoon of ground flax) a bowl of hot instant light porridge with raisons, a flex seed bagle..

Oh ... my ... gawd! Does that veggie smoothie ever sound kick-ass Charger!

I'm thinking after drinking that, you had enough energy to go to the moon, baby. I'm thinking you should be voted best health food of the month on this board, is what I'm thinkin'.

Love my smoothies 2Skinny.. Till I ended up in hospital.. I would try to drink a veggy smoothie in morning..and a fruit one in afernoon for energy at work.. Love them.. If interested.. go to Chapters..and get the Smoothies Bible.. Be very very surprised what is good out there for us.. specially if we put it in a smoothie.. Also got started on Wheat Grass... Take a wheat grass tablet a day.. But when I forget.. I go to Boosters..and get a shot of wheat grass.. First few bothered me in taste.. but now.. mmmmm and a shot of wheat grass is equal to 20 veggy's.. Give it a try sumtime..

I really like wheat grass juice, but I didn't even know they had the tablets; I'll keep an eye out for them. Wheat grass juice (when you can get it) is so good for you, and it's really tasty; but not an "every day" sort of thing for me.

I think I am just too lazy to do the smoothies thing, at least at home. I don't mind getting a huge one at a shop, though. I know they have a lot of calories, but I always go for the ones with just fruit, no yogurt or fats added. I figure they are better for me than whatever else I might get when I am out and about ;)

I also love to get sushi for a snack, when I am wandering the town. :D
