weight gain

not really into weight training rite now but i'd love to gain some weight. im really underweight (105pounds)

i know i have to eat more and increase calorie intake. some ppl are suggesting that bananas are really good in gaining weight. my question is how many bananas a day should i eat. Three?
 
Bananas are great for weight gain (as they don't cause cravings but are relatively high in healthy calories). The number of banans you'll have to eat will depend entirely on how strong your metabolism is. If your body burns the calories (energy) faster than it can store them (in muscle or fat) then you won't see noticeable gains.

My advice would be to start out with at least 2 bananas a day over what you're already eating, and be sure that which each meal you're getting a decent amount of protein as well (as this is less likely to be used for energy as carbohydrates or fat). If after a month you don't notice gains, step it up a notch.
 
Must say i have a problem with bananas adding weight. There's only about 110 calories in one banana.

Buy a bucket of those weight gainers they are packed with carbs and calories.
 
My take on bananas for weight gain: Bananas contain tons of potassium, which is an essential element (and therefore one of the limiting factors) in muscle contraction. Potassium also regulates electrolyte levels in the body. By themselves, from pure calories, you're not going to get a ton of weight gain - but as part of a healthy diet, it can mean storing a lot more protein in muscle tissue because of better workouts.

It's also something that's relatively easy to add into your daily diet. You can use it as a dessert after each meal, mix it with some PB as a really good snack, etc. It's not difficult to eat 3-5 bananas a day and it's relatively cheap to do so compared to some other food sources.

A good weight gainer is also an alternative, like my favorite Cytomax. Of course, that's $40.
 
ok thnx alot for ur reply. yea that was the problem. its hard for me to eat more. i try. bananas are relatively easy to add to ur diet. i will also try weight gainers u suggested
 
if you want to gain weight quickly buy the largest meal in mcdonalds every day for a month and you'll get heavier, lol.

p.s. you'll probably die too (so dont do it, lol)
