Weak Abs

Novice at ab excercises, currently have a bit of a stomach from the calorie high beer. Stop drinking it last week, but still have the stomach. I'm only 145lbs, 5'7 and 19 years of age.

Suggestions on how to effectively tone or shape my abs ie exercises or links.

there is no majic exercise, secret or shortcut, if you wanna look good, live healthy. eat right, train, right.

you must be equall, always.
If you train 1 side you must do the same to the other, or one side will become weak and you will get muscular imballence. this goes for chest and back, abs and back, biceps and triceps etc...
 
high tension exercises are best such as front hover / braces whatever u like to call them and more advanced gymnastic versions such as hollows and L Sits..search them on google
 
Also remember you can't spot reduce. That is to say, you can't lose fat in one place. To tone your abs, you must lose the fat covering them. To lose the fat covering them, you must lose fat everywhere, which is where weight training, cardio, and a healthy diet play their roles.

Like previously said by manofkent, the kitchen is the most important part to getting a nice midsection (and rest of the body too). Here's a general plan for a 5-meal day (and a 3-meal day if you just don't have the time to prepare and eat 5) to lose weight:

you should be training your abs like any other muscle with the same rep systems. The two best ways are to do any type of sit up, whilst holding a weight (make sure the weight is not touching any part of your body).
and 2nd is the hanging leg raise, with weights tied to your feet.

aim for 8-12 reps per set
 
train ur abs 3-4 times a week is sufficient
lose body fat to about 10% or so, to have ur ab start lookin ripped.

dont overtrain either.

do like 15-20 reps i'd say. and do it at a slow tempo , normally 2 sets. den switch to another ab workout
find out various ab exercises and switch around. let ur body have fun =]
