Warmup for Lifting Weights??

I'm going to start lifting weights afterwork today ... doing a full body workout on Monday and Wednesdays ... maybe later adding a weekend day .... I ran 2 miles this morning ... do I need to do a cardio workout before I start lifting this afternoon? Or in general what are the warm up rules before lifting? I'm 25 yr old female ... 150lbs ... never lifted before :)

I would always do a small cardio warm-up before lifting weights (8-10 minutes) followed by about 5 minutes of stretching particularly to your gastrocs/achilles, hip flexors and chest.

This warmup will get you both physiologically and mentally ready for your workout....

I was wondering how this was going to be answered, I didn't want to be the first one LOL.

Currently I just stretch for about 5 minutes before I start to lift weights...

ALWAYS warm up before weights. I do 5-10 minutes on the treadmill. Then I do a warm up set (light weight) for the exercise I am about to do. Then I do my actual real sets.
