Hi all!

I am 22 years old and I weigh 137 pounds. I am 5'4 tall and will start the South beach diet induction phase tomorrow. I gain weight on my arms - upper body in general. Right now I want to focus on my back fat. I work out 2-3 times a week (on a 3 week slump right now but will start again).

Check out before pix- I tried to exhale as much as I could

Dang, 20 pounds? 120 would still be good, but 117 okay.
It doesn't really sound good in my opinion, when you as someone how much they weight nd they say 117. 120 is much classier.

So she should carry an extra three pounds of fat (if 117 ends up being ideal for her) just because 120 sounds better?

Hi there,

I'm 5.6 (36 years old) and weigh 143 pounds which does not sound that much overweight but it is for me and my body shape. My legs and butt are very slim - perfect actually - but my upper body seems to carry all the extra weight (arms, boobs and back) and this gives a disproportionate look to my body as a pretty shape is waist definition, no matter what size you are. You don’t show any pictures of your lower body so I don’t know if you are apple shaped and have the same problem as me or just tend to have a bit of extra weight all over. For my body to look in proportion I need to weigh +/- 122 pounds which is what I'm trying to aim at. Good luck on your weight loss and I find low carb to be the easiest way to lose weight.

I am 5'4 and weigh 144 pounds and I wish I looked like this! My stomach was stretched to no ends while I was pregnant with my twins and its very ugly! But I think you have a nice shape and will look very nice when you are all done! Good luck on your weight loss schedule!

Hi guys!!

Thanks for the support first of all and regarding the 117-120 lbs issue lol I would be happy at either weight but I don't know if it's realistic since the lowest weight I have been at 5'4 was 125 and that was during high school. I am finding it really hard to follow the low carb thing though because first of all I am Asian and am used to at least 3 cups of rice a day and second of all I don't really like red meat. I find myself forcing the red meat down and I am now worried about my bad cholesterol level. So far so good. I'll see how it goes.

Oh and in reply to Mommy I think it's awesome that you had twins and now weight 144! i got to this weight with no baby so props to you =).

lol 117- 120 what's the difference .. round number obsession? ;)

Good luck to you too! =) sure you can pull it off!

btw Jfaye07 .. 0_o I don't think carbs are a problem for weight loss.. that's often a misconception. Carbs are actually the staple of our diets and the main fuel for our body. Red meat is actually recommended only a couple times a week in a normal diet. In the west, we eat way too much meat compared to the daily requirements. Doesn't mean you should go eat pastries daily either =P

That said, I've actually lost all weight eating mainly carbs as calories 9O% of my cals come from carbs. I don't like red meat much. If anything I eat eggs, chicken about 3-4 times a week. And a lot of dairy tho. I'm 5"3 and 110 lbs.

Carbs don't mean weight gain, prefering full wheat is better as fiber keeps you full. Protein has the exact same purpose, as well as maintaining muscle.

=3 please be kind if I've said something silly... hehe
