Hi everyone, i'm new here, im 19 years old from suffolk in England. I have a BMI of 29 and for me height and weight i am classed as overweight and borderline obese. I'm quite serious now about loosing 2-3 stone but need some advice as how to do so.

I've never been a particularly unhealthy person. I don't eat allot of junk food and i have a fairly active lifestyle. I work in agriculture so i spend me days outside being fairly active.

I have recently made some little changes to my diet to help like eating brown bread instead of white, low calorie crisps and drinking lots of water but i'm not sure what else to do, or how bigger portions to have?

Additional excersise is my only concern. I dont have time to go to the gym several times a week and i don't really enjoy playing many sports.

I have also considered Pure Acai as a means of boosting metabolism etc, can anyone give any reviews..

All in all i want to loose 2-3 stone and don't care how long it takes, and would really appreciate it if anyone could give their advice.

Thanks

hi there! here's a few suggestions. completely avoid junk food. eat more fish, chicken (except for the skin). go easy on the brown bread as well. snack on fruits. eat more vegetables. stay away from sweets and anything salty. to jump start your exercise, start by walking around 30 minutes a day, do this at least 5 times. when you get the hang of it, jog or run. good luck on your weight loss journey!

A helping hand.

Hi Dobbo,

I'm qualified to give nutrtion and weight management advice and programs - I have recently started one on my mother, I generally help on weight gain but I am having good results with my mum losing weight.

If you reply with your weight, I know this may seem personal to give on a public forum (violation removed), and your activity level occupationally and leisurely, by which I mean in your job is it office/student/or whatever, and leisurely do you often do sports, sometimes do sports, or never do any extensive exercise?

My program is a slow method, aiming to lost 2lb per week - which you are in the long run more likely to keep off.

With your weight and activity level I can work out how much energy you need in a day, reduce it to enable you to lost 2lb a week, then give you the figures for how much fat, protein and carbohydrates you need. You then just check the packets of your foods before you eat them.

Not the simplist method but certainly effective.

Christopher

hey guys thanks for the replies, i've had a bit of a change in plan since my last post.

Ive completely overhalled my diet (i will give you the info in a min and comment and advice would be appreciated)

And ive decided im going to join a local gym.

As for the occupation. i work outside all day, this time of year on foot allot. i spend my average day, removing/building fences, hedge cutting allot of hands on stuff all day so its hardly an un-active job.

As for my diet (comments and advice would be much appreciated)

Breakfast
Bowl on berry special K
+ Glass of apple juice

Lunch
Bowl of soup
+ Brown roll
(if im at home)

Cheese/Ham/Chicken sandwich (brown bread) x2
+ bag of sainsburys "Be Good To Yourself" chrisps
+ Orange
+ special K breakfast bar
(if im at work, seems like allot to me but its a fairly active job so i suppose i need the energy)

Dinner
Any Microwave meal from the "Be Good To Yourself" Range
+ Veg (usually brocoli, carrots, beans etc but not always every one)

Drink
Water

Im also joining my local Clarice House gym and im going to aim for 4 days a week on a program that hopefully they will design for me upon signup.

So let me know what you think, if theres anything else i can add/remove or anything else i can do. and what you think this particular diet will do for me

Thanks

I think this is what you really forgot:
Eat in a small plate, this will allow you control the amount of food you eat.
Eat less, more often. Not only will it increase you metabolism through the day
but it will also help you control your diet. Take time to chew your food.
Digestion begins with the mouth, so chew your food properly and savor the food.

And change your lifestyles,do some . Like walking,
jogging and all cardio exercise.

Good luck. :)

= Hey ! You simply need burn more calories daily than u eat . That way you will lose weight - Fats and muscles will stay in place . And do not forget about vitamins and protein

You can also eat apples during lunch or dinner. Apples fill your stomach faster as they contain pectin. Pectin is known to make you feel full and you will also retain that feeling for a longer time.

Another great thing about apples is that they are very low in calories. Munching on apples can satisfy your hunger pangs without putting too many calories in your body.

Breakfast
Bowl on berry special K
+ Glass of apple juice

This breakfast is no good to much Sugar .
Special K = High Carbs
Milk 1/3 Sugar
Glass of Apple juice = Glass of Sugar
Instead you could have an omelette,Porridge,Organic yogurt and Strawberries. etc

Lunch
Bowl of soup
+ Brown roll
(if im at home)

Brown roll = High Carb
Soup depends if its homemade or a soup that is full of sugar .
Maybe a chicken wrap or Turkey wrap .

Cheese/Ham/Chicken sandwich (brown bread) x2
+ bag of sainsburys "Be Good To Yourself" chrisps
+ Orange
+ special K breakfast bar
(if im at work, seems like allot to me but its a fairly active job so i suppose i need the energy)

Seriously this is a disaster meal
Cheese and bread dont mix (High fat /High Carb )
Crisps (Say no more)
Orange = but not with meals as fruit is still sugar . Have fruit as snacks on there own .
Special K bar . No No No . There just sugar are rubbish .

Dinner
Any Microwave meal from the "Be Good To Yourself" Range
+ Veg (usually brocoli, carrots, beans etc but not always every one)

Microwave meals are not excactly nutritious . . Green veggies are good . :)

Drink
Water

Im also joining my local Clarice House gym and im going to aim for 4 days a week on a program that hopefully they will design for me upon signup.

Jogging is good for fitness , But not very productive for fat loss . Starting a condition/Strength programme . Your get faste and more long term results for Fat loss .

So let me know what you think, if theres anything else i can add/remove or anything else i can do. and what you think this particular diet will do for me

Thanks

Hope this helps a little . good luck .

Apples are good , But dont eat them with meals . Use fruit as snacks throughout the day . Fruit is Sugar and You want to keep insulin response minimal during large consumptions of food.
