want to be a cuteone!

trying to be cute!

I've been meaning to start a diary, but I've been putting it off. I'm not really sure what to write about...

I have a thread in the newcomers area, but I'll post that basic info here as well:

I'm 24 and from Canada. I'm in the process of losing weight. I was 133 at my heaviest, and got down to 118 in 2006. But I gained most of that weight back, and have been around 128 ever since. Then I decided in January of this year that I have had enough of being fat!!

Last time I lost weight it was because of Weight Watchers, but that obviously wasn't the right way for me to go about losing weight. Counting everything I ate exhausted me, and I think that's why I gave it up. So this time, while I do watch what I eat, I am not measuring and counting everything I eat.

Instead, I added exercise into my life. I try to workout 3 or 4 times a week, doing 30 mins of cardio (jogging, elliptical or recumbent bike), and 15-20 mins of weights. And I feel so much healthier than the last time I lost weight! Not only am I losing weight, but my body is toning up. I feel this time I have made a life change!

So, since January I've lost 11.5 lbs, and I am so happy. My first goal is 115, so I'm almost there!!

I'm not sure what to set my next goal at...I want to lose more, but I don't know what is realistic. I was 105 all during high school, but I feel like maintaining that weight now, as an adult, is not plausible. Hummm..

I'm glad you made a diary!! Welcome!

You've done great losing nearly 12 pounds! That's awesome, congratulations! Good luck with your next goal. I'm happy for you (and a little bit jealous)

Don't be jealous, I look like I have a tire around my middle. It's frustrating, I wish you could pick where you lose weight from! I really want to have a flatter tummy!

Kimmy posted this link in her journal (), so I checked out what it said for me:

04/27/2009 115.54
05/04/2009 114.43
05/11/2009 113.34
05/18/2009 112.26
05/25/2009 111.2
06/01/2009 110.15

I am hoping it's correct! 110 at the beginning of June?! Whaaa!

yayyy congrats on your weight loss!! your story sounds a bit like mine. :)

i was 105-110ish all throughout high school. i wish i could get back to that, but i also feel like that'd be difficult to maintain. my weight fluctuates between 120-130, with my lowest being 118 in spring 2008.

you're almost at your 1st goal...keep up the good work!!

Thanks for stopping by Shep03! We do sound like we have similar stories; how tall are you? I'm only 5'0''. I'm guessing you're taller, not many people are as short as me.

It's been crummy weather (raining) here, so I haven't been able to keep up with my couch to 5k. Which is ok, because I've been having a lot of shin pain, so it's probably best I give it a rest. On the other hand though, I want to do a 5k race May31, so I feel like I need to keep training! I'm a very conflicted person.

Yesterday when I was working out I got sick! I just worked out at home on the elliptical, nothing different than I have been doing all winter. But after 10 mins, my heart rate was going insane (I don't have a HR moniter, so I don't know how fast it was, but it felt abnormal) I slowed down a bit, and proceeded to feel dizzy and nausous. I almost fell getting off, and I tried to walk around and not puke lol. After 5 minutes I didn't feel as sick, and just finished my workout very slowly because I still felt "off". I wish I knew why that happened; I'd eaten and drank water beforehand. It was scary!

i'm 5'2".. so not that much taller! but i carry my weight horribly...life would be so much easier if i carried weight well!

the weather here hasn't been so good either...one day it's 70 and sunny (and i have work), then the next days it's 45 and rainy (and i have off work). can't win in that aspect!

i wonder why you got sick, as well. i was going to say maybe you were dehydrated or needed to eat, but you said you ate and drank water before you worked out. maybe keep a bottle of water with you while you work out? i know most people do, but maybe it was dehydration. i hope that doesn't happen again though...it is scary and kind of ruins a good workout.

I think we all wish we carried our weight differently! I wish mine wasn't around my middle; others feel it's all on their hips/butt/thighs/arms/etc.

It doesn't make sense, since I drank tea and water for breakfast, and then more water before working out - but I bet I was dehydrated. That would explain the symptoms I was feeling, but it's still weird!

The sun was just out! I hope it stays sunny, or at least not rainy, until I get home from work so I can go running. I also hope I can motivate myself to go out, that's probably the bigger concern right now. *crosses fingers*

hi there congrats on your new journal and weight loss!

I think I do carry my weight differently that a lot of north-american people, as I am mexican. I have the typical pear shaped body of a latina but in ''a bit too much'' proportions. most people say I look nice and don't believe I weight 150 pounds (at 5'2!)
but it has its ups and downs. I have poor blood circulation and have cellulite, which many apple shaped bodies don't - or at least not as much. and I kill all my jeans when I walk because of the friction :p and don't get me started on finding jeans that fit this butt.
:hurray: keep strong !

I've never thought of how people from different cultures would have different body shapes, but it is so true! I generally fit clothes, pants are always waaay too long, but that is not something I can change. Being slimmer will be nice because I could wear lower rise pants again.

I ended up going running last night. I was a bit frustrated with myself, I was on day2 of week6 in the couch to 5k; and I couldn't do the second 10 minute run, I had a major stitch in my side. I went 3km in 23 minutes. I'm so slow:(

Despite another workout I wasn't proud of, I am proud of this: I weigh 115lbs!!!:D I actually saw it on the scale yesterday, but didn't really believe it until I saw it again today, so it must be true. That and my size 7 pants are falling off me - I can take them off without undoing them:smilielol5:

I think I'll update my goal to 110. After that I will just focus on toning up and maintaining that weight, and hope any weight on my tummy redistributes itself so I can comfortably wear a bikini.

I should get back to work now... :leaving:

Wow! Congratulations on seeing 115! You are working so hard and you deserve it!

Keep it up! You'll reach your new goal in no time!

Guess what I just did?? (well, last night) I ran 5km! I've been having a hard time with my running, because of pain above my ankles (haha, don't know the name). So I've been resting and just working out at the gym. But yesterday, with new shoes and good weather, I just hit my groove and made it to the 2.5km mark - and then in order to get home I had to complete the 5km. I didn't run straight (2 walking breaks, 1 and 3 minutes) but I still did it in 38 minutes. I know that's not a great time, but I am proud still! Now that I have done it once, I want to go do it again! :troll: I've only been running since mid-March. I've signed up to run a 5km race on May 31st. I'm excited and nervous at the same time - I don't want to be last lol.

My weight is still 115. It fluctuates between 113.5-115 - but I will not count the lower weight until my weight is never more than that. I'm weird.

I counted calories last week for my first time ever. I found during the week I barely made it to 1000 calories. Other days I was around 1100-1300. One day I was 1500 (I had McDonalds lol) I've been researching and I think I should be at the 1300 calorie mark to lose 1lb/week. So lose it already, body! Unless it thinks it's starving on the lower calorie days? I did realize I need to make sure I get enough meat/veggies in my diet on days I work. I don't eat a lot, but it's not always the healthiest food.

I'm done now.

wow!! that's awesome about your running!!

congratulations and good luck with your 5k at the end of the month!! I'm sure you'll do great!

whoa, you replied fast ;) I was just looking at your pictures...

Thank you very much! I've had this goal of running in a 5km race for YEARS - and now I'm going to DO IT! I just hope to be able to do it slightly quicker than I did yesterday.... but I have 3.5 weeks to improve!

You're inspiring me now!

I tried my hand at running outdoors for the first time yesterday! (I had bad luck and froze my butt off and got rained on).

Do you run on flat ground or are there hills where you run?

Congrats on running outside! Too bad about the rain/cold. I'm a wuss, if it's cold and/or raining, I just go to the gym. Are you sore today? Even though I'd been working out @ the gym/weight training - the first time I ran outside I couldn't move the next day!

I run on mostly flat ground. There's only one hill, at the start of my route. But I get to run down it at the end! I've actually been google mapping other routes that would incorporate another hill or two. My race is in a hill-ier area, so I want some practice.

I am SO SORE today. I did a 4 mile loops yesterday and mostly my hips are sore. I thought it was from the wii fit, but it could very well be from running.

The treadmill is a walk in the park compared to running outside!

I would have been terrified to start running without google maps. Isn't it wonderful? haha

I bet you were sore from a combination of running and wii fit. The first time I did boxing on wii fit, I could barely lift my arms the next day.

I wish I could run 4 miles on my first run! I can only make 3, and I've been working a long time to get to this point :blush5:

I love the google maps pedometer. It makes it so much easier to figure out how far you've ran than getting in your car and driving the same route, lol.

I wish I could run 4 miles on my first run! I can only make 3, and I've been working a long time to get to this point :blush5:

I totally didn't run all 4 miles on my first run. I got about 2...maybe a little more, and had to walk/jog the rest of the way :)

Watch out for shin splints! If you get them, do not run again for at least one full week. I could barely even walk for a full month last summer because of horrible shin splints. They were really bad and if I simply moved my foot up and down you could audibly hear my shins creaking. I decided I was just too heavy, which was correct, so I waited until I lost another 15 lbs before I attempted to actually jog again. I don't think you girls will have that problem but maybe keep it in the back of your mind.

Cuteone, where did you get your side stitch, your side or under your ribs? I get them under my ribs when I am not breathing right and it actually happend at the end of my first triathlon earlier this month. I am now focusing very hard on breathing correctly every time I jog. I love jogging though. I never thought I would but I actually enjoy it a lot now. I can run 5K in about 26 or 27 minutes on a good day. That is not very fast compared to real runners but for me that is the fastest I have ever been. Under 24 minutes would be great for me. That is my goal by this Fall.

Good luck and don't let plateaus discourage you! I hit several plateaus throughout my 1 year journey so far, including my current one that has lasted for 6 weeks! I guarantee you it is the eating. Either I am eating too many calories or just too many are coming from fat. I am going to try very hard over the next 6 weeks to consume a tad less, especially from fat.

Hello cuteone,

I hope you totally rock that 5 km Race!! Maybe once I borrow my dad's pedometer, I can know how far I travel on my run's. Maybe one day I could try a race too. I haven't given it a lot of thought though. I am pretty slow, I have the older as in (60+)'s pass me on the trail, and bigger ppl too. I only ever pass the walkers!!! LOL

Great work on your weight loss!! :seeya:
