Walking behind the wagon

Soooo. I'm trying to get back on the wagon because I'm oh-so-weak and gave in to all the wonderful things of Christmas - in a big 'ooo, it's Christmas and screw the diet' sort of way :D Yes, I should be shot :p Anyway, this forum really does have a way of motivating me, but as I'm still finding my way around I've yet to give this section a proper look. So, with Vicar of Dibley playing in the background - with the too gorgeous for words Richard Armitage - I thought now would be as good a day as any to give this a shot, that way tomorrow may be the first day of detoxing, cleaning out the cupboards of the nice stuff and spending an hour or so dragging my dog away from every lady dog, lamp post and old man I happen to pass.

There's not really much point in writing down what I've eaten over the past few days; let's settle with: extras of everything festive. I do have that somewhat guilty feeling now, which I don't make a point of having often as I can't really change what I've consumed. I'm trying to think positive and along the lines of tomorrow will be a fresh day - it sounds like a complete cop out when I say that, but it's really not. It's 10pm here and I have no intention of eating anything else until morning :p

Aside from the food aspect, Christmas was fabulous! I've had too many books to name, loads of new films I've been wanting for quite a while, and a bunch of fairy stuff (I'm in to anything magical or, you know, sparkly :D). OHOH. The best present, however, came in form of Johnny Depp. Where as I can't say I have the pleasure of owning him, I do have the his face on the next twelve months :D

I spent most of Christmas with family, who came over to our house and turned my mum into a bigger stress-head than usual. She ends up doing most of the cooking on her own, what with the rest of us not being trusted to cook a turkey correctly (I did cook her a nice breakfast this morning, though!). Other than that it was spent watching Robin Hood BBC and the Vicar of Dibley - following the family tradition of watching some British drama/comedy around this time of year.

TOTALLY RAMBLED. You deserve a cookie if you got this far, consciously -hands cookie- The non-calorie, interent one :D

On to the questions and stats.

-- How much weight do you want to lose? Another 3 1/2 stone is what I'm aiming for, which should get me to a 'normal' BMI. I have a rather petite frame, though, so I suppose it just depends how I feel when I've lost that.

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight? I don't like putting timeframe's on losing weight because if I don't meet them it sets me back. It would be grand - actually, bloody fantastic - if I could get to my goal weight by next Christmas, but in the short-term I'll be shooting for losing two stone by the summer. I'm not sure whether that's too grand a goal, but I'll give it a try!

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? The fad diets have been out the window for a good six months, and I've managed to lose the most weight I ever have and keep it off. Doing it the good old fashioned way - eat healthier and excerise more.

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal? My friends, for the whole 'yes, you are coming to the swimming pool with me' routine :] I'm also thinking of taking up tennis with a friend when it gets a bit warmer, so I'm sure she'll be a great motivational tool to keep me up - competition is definitely a good support tool for me! Other that, my mum and this forum are other key forms of support.

-- How realistic is your goal? I think it's pretty realistic. It's not as if I'm hoping to drop several stone in the space of a week.

-- When will you start? Already started. However, I have fallen victim to Christmas, and the horribly amazing cooking of my mum. Frankly, I'm completely stuffed from both Christmas and Boxing Day, so there's no point trying to deny that :p I suppose it's another reason to get this journal up, as to get back on the wagon - or at least walk at a steady pace behind it :D

Don't think of it as a diet and there's n o wagon to fall off of... Think Lifestyle change -it's the most effective approach for long term success... enjoy what you love in moderation and if nothing is really forbidden - then there's no real harm done..

Much success getting to your goals

maleficent: I'm starting to see it as a lifestyle change, but it's the whole 'moderation' thing that I seem to have problem with. I can't just treat myself without having to take it overboard; it's definitely something I'm working on though.

a-n-g-e-l: Thank you muchly :]

Other than that, my week has been good. I had my assignments back and I'm chuffed with the results I got for my poetry and narrative pieces, even if I did interpret the poem in a completely different way to most people, haha. I'm writing a lot more lately, which I'm pleased about - they might not be good stories but at least I'm enjoying them!

I'm also now employed xD Yay for minimum wage, hah.

Today I went with a friend to a retail village. We ended up going for a walk around the grounds; I forgot just how gorgeous it is around the area. We were a little bit bummed at the fact we couldn't go up to see a monument because you had to pay to go up - all those potential calories to burn xP

Tonight is my first Slimming World meeting, so I'm a bit nervous! I've stuck to the plan and I'm hoping I've lost some - our scales seem to be a bit off, but I'll have a definite number tonight. Luckily, I'm going with my mum so I'm not really anxious about the actual meeting; I'm actually looking forward to it to be honest. Wish me luck! :]

don't get too hung up on the number on the scale -it can be incredibly fickle and anything can make it go up or down - do get yourself a tape measure and take regular measurements... that will be a better judge of how you're really doing... and just be as consistent as possible..

as for treats inmoderation.. while it's more costly - just get yourself single serviing containers of what you love - that way you can't go overboard -and sometimes it's just really decadent to get one cupcake and just savor it :)

Well, I lost around two pounds in three days (and I wasn't following it to the letter) so I'm pretty chuffed! I'll take your advice though and start getting a few measurements :]

I'm working in a camping shop, angel; it's my first day this coming Saturday.

And I'm on a bit of a high at the moment because I've dropped a dress size xDDD I had to get an outfit for my brother's birthday and they didn't have the size I assumed I was xD So yay!

I still need to make a note of my measurements - I need to get a tape-measure first xP Good luck in getting a job! It took me quite a while because I had no experience, but I managed to get lucky.

My first week of the Slimming World plan is over and I've lost 5 1/2 pounds xD My mum also had a big loss and was slimmer of the week, which is great because she was positive she had stayed the same. We've decided that we're going to throw the scales away because when my mum weighed herself in the middle of the week she got pretty down because she hadn't lost; I was sure she wasn't going to go to the meeting, but in the end she ended up losing anyway, lol. So bye-bye scales!

good for you for getting rid of the scales...i wish i had that mush courage but i weigh myself everyday...i don't 5 times everyday anymore so i ma moving away form it lol...slowly but surely!

and great job on the 5 1/2 pound loss!!! congrats to you and your mom!

:hurray:  :hurray:

have a good weekend
