I was on a diet similar to this once. It is called a very low calorie diet or VLC diet. You are only taking in about 1000 cal a day. I lost 20 lbs my first week and by the end of 2 months I had lost 52 pounds. These diets are meant to be done with very close monitoring by your doc. I had to go in for a checkup weekly.
The issue is that it is not a long term solution. As soon as I returned to eating normal food I gained 60lbs back. There were many side effects as well. I was near fainting off and on, cold sweats and was nauseous often. 1000 cal for a 6'6" 300lb man is not a good idea. I do not recommend this type of diet to anyone and for god sakes DO NOT TRY THIS WITHOUT CLOSE SUPERVISION OF A DOCTOR!
Ohh...in that case I'll just stick to losing an average of 1-2lbs weekly. It's going to take wayy longer but the whole fainting off and on, nausea and cold sweats doesn't sound very appealing to say the least
