Valapalooza's Diary

Well, we went to the movies before dinner. I had popcorn. Oops! It could've been worse I suppose. I figure I probably wasted 500 calories on the stupid popcorn, so I had a salad with shrimp from Baja Fresh that was only 245 calories. My other food for the day was the Activia at 110 calories, Lean Pocket at 280 calories and a peach at 37 calories. So all in all I only consumed 1172 calories- so if I hadn't eaten that popcorn, I would've been WAY UNDER an acceptable level of caloric intake, right?!?! lol Especially since at my size, my BMR is 1908!! Oh the things I will do to justify my lack of willpower.

lol. that's okay. that's what I do too. but we gotta remember, it's not healthy to just get our calories from POPCORN! ;) we need to be careful of our nutritional intake too. :) just be a good girl tomorow and u should be fine. :D

Don't sweat about the popcorn. Although we should be eating a balanced diet, we should be able to eat treats now and then. You even managed to incorporate it into your daily calories. So as far as I am concerned you did great!!!! Keep up the fab work!!;)

Hi Val :)

I'm right there with ya hating my TOTM - and I'm with Scarlett, water weight gain in EVIL!! But it is nice the week it's gone ;)

With the excercise and the caloric choices you're making, you will do the Spare Tire Deflaters Proud!!

I'm finally off my TOM and waiting for the scale to inch down a bit. I hate it too! I stayed away from the scale today at they gym. I'm going to try to only weigh in on Mondays from now on. BTW, popcorn is one of my weaknesses also - especially when it's my TOM.

Hello teammate, just popping in for a quick hello! Is that the sound of a spare tire deflating I hear? Or have I drank too much water again...

Keep up the good work and don't sweat the wee mishaps! I'm going to the cinema tomorrow so hopefully I'll be able to get by without sweeties!:D

Okay- so somehow I never got around to posting in my diary yesterday- so I'll do a quick recap.

Food consisted of Activia for b; a Lean Cuisine and a banana for l; low-calorie applesauce and a 100 calorie pack for snacks; tilapia, a small serving of scallops, zucchini, and a couple of crackers for d. I worked out on the elliptical long enough to balance out the calories from the crackers and then some. I took a 4 mile bike ride with the bf, and another long neighborhood walk with the dog. All in all I did a pretty good job I think. Intake was probably around 1000-1100 calories. I also drank a TON of water.

Today I'm not feeling so hot- Lethargic and a little achy... Hopefully I will feel better by the time I get home from work so I can get some exercise in. Today will be the first time in a long time that I will be going out for lunch... I'm working at a client site today and we always go to lunch when we are at a client. As long as they don't want to go to a Mexican or Chinese restaurant or anything like that I'm sure I'll be able to find something healthy to eat.

Thanks for checking in on me everyone- I really truly appreciate it. (And thanks fromfit2fat for reminding me to get in my own diary) I hope everyone is doing a great job on the challenge. I will be so excited if we all meet our personal goals for the 2 weeks! :) To my ladies: Deflate those Tires!

Oh I find chicken chow mein is the way to go if you go Chinese--it's extremely low cal and not bad. There are some decent Mexican choices too if its a good Mexican restaurant.

Hey Val, sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Hope you don't have a bug coming on.

So how did the lunch out go?

Hey Val,

I'm just starting to read your diary but I thought I'd post anyways. :)

It sounds like you got this going out for lunch thing undercontrol....way to go!!

I hope your day is going great!

Hi Val

Sounds like you did pretty good yesterday. You did great with your exercise and your water. Great to see your doing so well. Good to know I have such a strong teammate!

We are gonna win!

Hey Val, that was a LOT of activity yesterday, great job! Your food is a little low, but we're all about averages this week in the forum, so keep it above a healthy 1200 a day so you make sure your nutrition is covered. Plus as active as you are, a little extra food will help keep your metabolism revving. I'm pushing Scarlett's "calorie cycling" recommendation, I think it's great. Did you read it?

I did read about calorie cycling- and therefore I decided to have chicken fajitas at the Mexican restaurant. lol Oh boy. That was trouble- but delicious trouble. I made up for it by having a 6 inch turkey from Subway for dinner and no snacking throughout the day. I hope the scale doesn't punish me tomorrow!

Hey Val. Just checking in. Glad you could stop by. I see you are focused as ever. Take care and have a groovy Friday.

for future reference, if you go have chinese authentic cuisine, I think steamed rice and a stir-fry dish is usually the best in case they make you go mkay. A bowl of congee (if they have it) is great.

If they want north american stylized chinese food (ie: chicken balls, chicken wings) you might be outta luck. :(

hope you have a wonderful day girl. :)

Hey val hope you're having a good day and I hope those chicken fajitas were good! :D Not long til the weekend starts now though so enjoy that when it comes round!

I do believe fajitas is one of the better choices at a Mexican restaurant, right? At least it's protein and veggies. Or at least that's what I keep telling mysefl! LOL!!!

I am sorry you weren't feeling well yesterday, but you kicked ass the day before!! Way to go. How are you doing today?

Okay- so I'm feeling myself slipping into a rut... Not so much with my diet and exercise as with my attitude. I am definitely on a kick where I am not liking myself. My bf was trying to be the voice of reason today and cheer me up, but I was in such a bad mood I wasn't even really listening to him. I feel like no matter what I do or how far I go in this quest to be healthy- I am still going to be unhappy with myself. I've damaged my body by gaining this much weight in the first place- just recently I've developed stretch marks in places I've never had stretch marks before. I just wish I could walk out the door without being self-conscious and embarrassed about the way I look.
