Upright Row Form

OK...another form question!

Upright rows: Currently I do them with a very close grip - like hands side-by-side - and pull the bar up to my chin in an arcing motion, and don't fully lock out my arms at the bottom.

Is it better to do them with a wider shoulder width type grip?

My overall shape is coming on good, but those lateral delts are seriously slacking behind which is really affecting the line of how my tri's run into my shoulders

Not necessarily better...just different. A closer grip will hit your traps more and a wider grip will hit your delts more.

Thanks busyman I've got some lateral raises worked in.

Just got to hit these things hard for the next 2/3 months and try to get them into proportion with the rest of me. It's beginning to make me look a little odd

I usually don't keep my hands touching, but rather a few inches apart so there isn't much stress on my wrists at the top of the movement.

question:
about military press and behind neck press.. how wide grip? currently i use a bit wider than shoulder..

Yeah wider than shoulder is correct..it's hard to explain online, I guess maybe a few inches outside your shoulder, if you drew a line straight up from the outside of your shoulder to the bar

Oh and with the upright rows, a loose rule is 6-12 inches apart, depending on what you wanna hit. In my opinion, the closer the grip, the easier it is.

OK so tried it with my usual weights today but grip 10 inches or so.

Felt the hit in a completely different way so I guess it answers the question itself :)
