Upper/lower switch ?

Ive been lifting for almost 4 weeks now and have been working on my shoulders, chest, biceps and triceps.

Ive been keeping a journal and increasing the amount i lift whenever i feel nescessary.

So far ive been doing it for 3 straight days and taking a day off from lifting and just doing cardio.

Im thinking of switching this up though and adding lower body and one day and upper body the other so i can switch off every other day to give the muscles time to rest.

What do you guys suggest ?

Btw, im only using machines not free weights. Dont plan on "bulking up", just want to have somewhat visible cuts.

What's your goal? What exactly do you want and where?

My main goals are to get nice shoulders, arms and chest thats it besides getting thinner but im working on that with cardio and eatting healthy.

If you want to get thinner I suggest resistance training. Resistance training will benefit you better because of more muscle growth that will occur. Resistance Training will also help keep you metabolism elevated for a period of time after your training sessions.

If you want to build muscle you will need to perform lower repetitions with higher weight. Focus on driving the weight with speed.

What experience do you have with weight lifting?

i have little to none.

So i should just change what i have been currently doing ?

Ive been focusing on short amount of reps with higher amounts of weight.
