Hey everyone. About a few months ago I strained my right hamstring playing baseball. It was a minor injury, I didn't go to the ground when it happened and I was not disabled, but it has nagged me ever since.
I lift regularly, and I have to say this injury has not affected my strength whatsoever. I can still do my normal workout routines without and problems. The issue is whenever I run, jog, etc, it tightens up on me again and again. My mobility and flexibility has decreased significantly even though I have stretched it every now and again and given it time off. After giving it a good 2-3 week rest from running, as soon as I start going again, I feel the same pull in my upper leg (right under my butt, to be honest).
Today I started a new treatment attempt: I've been starting all of my workouts with 30 mins on the bike to loosen it up and stretching accordingly. Using IcyHot as soon as I get home. Anyone have any rehab advice for me? Should I back off on lifting (even if it doesn't aggravate it)? Any particular stretches or exercises, etc?
I appreciate any help. This has been bugging me since July, I just cannot shake it.
